Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Acer Computer, Aspire5100. When my computer becomes so slow and wants to hang up, I want to reinstall the MC operating system. I have done a back-up of my files. I have the 2 original recovery discs. When I insert the the first one I get a selection of icons to choose. None of these have any direct instructions on what the procedure is to recover the hard drive back to original. I hope you have enough info to help me start my computer from scratch. Thank you , Harvey hbermanmail@yahoo.ca 519-642-2931

OK ...
It may be an issue if the recovery disks are not containing the operation system ..but only the drivers and settings information ..
anyway ...the way to do it ..is to boot from the disk ..and see if they contain or not the operation system ..For that ...you have to get into BIOS settings ..by pressing DEL on start ..and in there to change the boot order from the Hdd to cd ..Just make the cd the first boot device ...(select the boot area) and after making this changes..save them with F10 ..and confirm ..with enter ..
Insert the first disk ..and restart the computer ..If the boot device is selected proper it will ask you to press any key to boot from CD ..and if the CD has a operation system on it ..all you have to do is to press a key (fast ) and let it install ..
if you do not want ..or can not manage to get into bios ..you can try to press repeatedly the f12 on the start to get on the boot menu ..and choose from there to boot (once at the time ) from CD ..
In case you do not have the operation system ..but just the driver -setting recovery on the disks ..you need a boot-able cd ..with the operation system ..
Here I will link a couple of downloads for windows XP..and VISTA home...cause I'm not aware which one you use..
these are torrents..and you need to install a u torrent software to be able to download them ..
The operation system files are in image format ..and to make a boot-able disk from the downloaded files..you need Nero burner...and all you have to do is to double click the file ..and have a clean cd inside..(blank)..
after that be sure you copy the cd key from the folder...insert the disk and same thing ..boot from CD ..using the f12 for boot menu ..or change the boot oreder in the bios..
here are the software you need and the download torrent for windows XP..genuine ..
http://www.utorrent.com/
http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/5388204/Windows_Xp_Genuine
install utorrent ..go to the download page ..and press download this torrent ..
when it is finished ..you will find the file in My documents /download folder after that be sure you install NERO if you do not have it ..and burn the image on a blank cd by double clicking the file ..
in the end you will have a boot-able cd with windows XP on it ..and you will be able to use it to reinstall ..
if you do not want to use the recovery cd ..after you finish the installation ..get to the acer support site ..select download..and after that your model ..and the operation system and download all drivers for your model and install them manually ..
or ..insert the disks and go for it ..
here is the vista download ..for making a vista boot-able disk
http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/4957141/Windows_Vista_All_Editions_32-bit_with_Activation

by the way ..first try to press f12..and select the boot from cd ..and be sure you inserted the recovery disks..
do not choose repair..but recover...or reinstall in the menu ..this way you will end up with a clean installation ..when it asks insert the second disk ..
only in case it will not work use the downloads and make operation system disk and use them ..

Boot manager missing

Step 1:
Acer Aspire computers come with a built-in hidden partition that allows you to restore your computer to factory settings in case the system becomes corrupted. While it may be more prudent to simply reinstall the operating system, certain drastic situations may call for you to begin from scratch. This can be done easily on most Acer Aspire models.

Backup all of your important data. Restoring your computer will erase all saved information. If you are able to boot into your system, move all of your important files onto an external hard drive or burn it to a disc. Reboot your machine. Press "ALT" + "F10" as the machine boots up. Type in the security code. This is often "000000". Select your operating system and press "Enter." This will begin the recovery process.

Hi,
Welcome to FixYa!
Since you already done doing system restore and same thing happens, there's a possibility that the problem is with the Operating System itself. All you need to do is to reinstall the whole operating system.
1. If you have the Recovery Disc that came with the computer, insert the disc and restart the computer.
2. It will ask you to press something, maybe Del or F2 to boot from the disc.
3. Once you press that, your computer will automatically boot from the cd and it will asked you on to which partition you will save it.
4. Choose the partition which have the largest space, usually Disc 0 Partition 1.
5. Follow the next instruction on the screen and it will reinstall the whole Operating System.
Hope this information will help. Thank you for using FixYa!

Hi,
Welcome to FixYa!
I believe you're having problem with the Operating System on your computer. Unfortunately, Lenovo will not provide a product key for the Operating System since the an OEM version. What you can do is reinstall the Operating System using the One Key Recovery Sofware or the Recovery Disc that came with the computer. Follow these steps for you to be able to reinstall the Operating System using the One Key Recovery.

1. Turn off the computer.

2. Press the little button near the power button, it usually do have a drawing of an icon that looks like a horse shoe or a headset.

3. There will be a window that will appear which do have three option, One Key Antivirus, One Key Recovery and System Setup. Choose One key Recovery.

4. There will be another window that will appear which do have two option, Restore from initial backup and Restore from user backup,Choose Restore from initial back up

5. It will asked you if you want to continue, Just click on OK or YES.

6. Once done, Reboot the computer.

For Recovery Disc,

1. Insert the disc inside the drive.

2. Turn off the computer then turn it back on and keep on tapping F12

3. There will a window that will appear which do have three options, HDD,ODD/DVD/CD, and NAT, choose ODD/DVD/CD

4. It will asked you to press any key immediately, you will need to press any key immediately so that it will boot from ODD.

5. It will asked you to choose a partition, choose Disc 0 partition 1

6. Reboot computer once done.

I hope this information will be helpful. Thank you for using FixYa...

Acer Aspire 5580 suddenly slowed down

Your acer is infected with virus that current antivirus cannot detect. uninstall new application programs that make your computer slower. however if non of those causes; please try to check the memory maybe is not function well. if it is not the cause then; You should reinstall your system to fixed all error on it. ( note: reinstalling will remove some important files and you should back up) Further more; the best thing to do is format the HDD and install the new windows.

Harry: take note: that other causes of the computer slower is the HDD , I encountered 50 times problems that computer become slower bcoz of the hard drive mulfunction. If this is the case you should replace hard drive that is covered with warranty.
