Question about Kenmore Washing Machines

1 Answer

My Kenmore Elite HEt3 washer won't spin with even a half of a load of clothes. It makes a clicking noise and then after 5-10 minutes in the drain/rinse/spin cycle it stops and gives me an F2 error code that flashes. Model number of my machine is 11042922200, and I believe we purchased it in 2006. I can run the nmachine empty on any cycle and it works from start to finish, but not with a load of clthes. What part is bad?

Man, I can't thank you enough, that was it! I took out the pump, and all the lines and they were full of just ****! Found a bunch of air soft BB's from my kids air soft guns, a Quarter and bunch of other stuff. The drain lines wewre so full it took about 30 minutes with a high presure hose to clean it out.

    Your a money savor!!!

Hey Rick, I hate to say it but after the first load of regular clothes I did after putting it back together, I tried doing a load of towels od "Sanitary", which is almost a two hour cyle. It made it to the spin part (less that 30 minutes left) and the pump started making the ticking noise again, and it went into F2 code again and stopped. Would the pump be bad? If it's not emptying all the water from the basen, then is it just to much weight in the unit so it just won't spin? I pulled all the pump numbers when I took it out, so if that is the problem I can go online and order it. Again, it does it with a 'full load almost everytime.

BTW: I use He soap, but didn't even put any in the washer on this load.

  • mcastner883 Jan 02, 2011

Ok, thanks again Rick. I will take the pump out and try that before I order another one.

Are you using HE detergent? SUD is exactly what you think it is. F2 means there's a drain issue, meaning the washer isn't draining completely. This error can occur when the washer fills with suds due to either using inappropriate detergent or using detergent of any kind during the Clean Washer cycle. Have any of these things happened? If so, run the "Rinse and Drain" cycle a couple times to flush the machine.
The pump has a button trap that can get plugged, unplug the Washer, remove the bottom service panel 3/4 screws at the very bottom, you will see a white plastic device that has a round cap that unscrews counter clock wise. if you have a shop vac. set for water keep it handy to keep the mess to a minimum. If you have infants their socks are small enough to get into the pump, get a mesh garment bag put the small items iin it and zip it closed;
Pull both hoses off the pump and check for any item causing a slow pump out
1. Unplug the washer

2. Take of the toe panel in the front by removing the three screws.

3. Get a bunch of towels (I mean a bunch!!!)

4. The pump is in the center, and it has a plastic grip handle that one can unscrew to remove the filter. As you unscrew it, LOTS of water will come out. Be ready with the towels. A cookie sheet helps to collect the water too.

5. Clean the filter assembly.

6. If one wishes to check the inlet of the pump, remove the back panel, about 12 screws. (Note, the following works for replace the pump as well)

7. Remove the large bellow from the bottom of the tub that goets to inlet of the pump by removing the clamp

9. Lift up on the plastic cover that covers the wires that power the pump. There may be a small plastic catch that is lifted up as to allow the connector to become free.

8. Remove the Torx screw that holds that is the center just under the filter screen.

9. Pull the pump forward.

10. Unclamp the pump outlet hose.

11. Remove pump

12. Unclamp the large bellow on the pumps inlet and inspect for debris.

13. Clean pump and fitler w/o getting water on the pump.

14. Install in reverse order.

if you have any further questions please message me back and please remember when our chat is concluded to rank how this opinion has helped in your appliance situation Thanks again Rick

theres probably more bb's that would most likely be stuck in the impellar or in the pump yes the pump would be bad if it stops pumping you can also make a power jump wire by taking an extension cord cutting off the plug in end and attaching two connectors on the end you cut plug this onto the pump then plug it into the wall this will turn on the pump and you will be able to see if the pump is damaged most of the time when somethinig small like that gets into it its gone bud might also want to try under contact us there is a 1800 number they are the cheapest for appliance parts any further questions message me back and did you blow out the entire drain system have to also realize you would have more bbs on the inside of the tub as well that were stuck there and through the drain lines as well first couple times you try the washer run only water in it hot and on a small load watch the drain line as it drains make sure there is good steady flow coming out the drain line but it does look like you might have to replace the pump Thanks again Rick

Why does it always become unbalanced in spin cycle?

how confident are you to get inside it? Check the balance springs and shock absorbers.

Normally it is two simple things.

First the machine must be level front to back and left to right. Also all 4 feet must be in equal contact with the floor.

Make sure you load the washer evenly with clothes. Mix large and small items so when the spin starts the clothes even out. Never wash just one large item that is very absorbent, like one bathrobe or one blanket..

Kenmore 90 plus series washer won't spin, barely agitates, will drain - but makes loud noise

It sounds like the transmission is done. Can't pinpoint what it is exactly, but I would start there.

My Kenmore Elite He4t front load washer is making a terrible noise when it starts spinning the clothes. What could be wrong?

Sounds like the rear bearing. If you hear the noise when you manually spin the drum or if the drum has any movement when you lift up on it then you need major repairs

I have an het3 elite washer. I have done all the trouble shooting....removing hoses and cleaning out debri. i took the pump assembly out and noticed that the "fins" 3 out of 4 were broken. Does this mean I...

yes sir..  those are the impeller fins and with only one you are not going to get much push on the water to expel it.  time to replace it and make sure all pockets are cleaned out before washing..

Excessive noise during the spin cycle. we have owned the washer for 16 months. problem started 1 wk. the machine is level.

It's noisy Most noises from a washing machine occur during the spin cycle. If you hear loud thumping during the spin, the load of clothes may have become unbalanced. Stop the washer and redistribute the clothes, then re-start it. Repeat these steps if necessary.

I have a kenmore elite h3 washer - Bad Water Pump?

HI. this code represents a Long Drain issue.

If the drain time exceeds 8 minutes, the water valves are turned off and F02 is flashed.

Press PAUSE/CANCEL twice to clear the display.

NOTE: After 4 minutes the “Sud” error will be displayed, then 4 minutes later the F02 error code will be displayed.

Potential Causes

• Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked
• Check the electrical connections at the pump and make sure the pump is running.
• Check the drain pump filter for foreign objects(located, and mounted on the actual pump)
If the above does not correct the problem replace the pump

Kenmore Elite HE3 front loader F-11 and FDL codes

yes!! the F/11 is triggered under high voltage conditions like high speed spinning. The part is called the MCU motor control unit. if it goes into failure while using your machine and locks the door, just wait 3 minutes and the door will unlock after the MCU resets. Try using you machine with a low speed spin for awhile.

Washplate problem Kenmore Elite Calypso washer

Hello genny2626

You said, your 6 year old Kenmore elite top loader's wash plate doesn't seem to go through its proper motions. When the lid is closed and the washer has filled and the agitating cycle begins, you can hear a vibrating noise as if the plate is trying to move on the gentle cycle, but when the lid is opened, nothing has moved at all. The drain and spin work fine, and the machine goes through an entire cycle without error messages, but the clothes aren't clean. You said, you have heard a lot of horror stories of how expensive these washers are to repair, so would like an idea of what's wrong beforehand.

Here are a list of common vibration noises

Noisy, vibrating, off-balance

Is the washer level? Does the washer rock when pushed
against the corners?
The washer must be level. The front and rear feet must be in
firm contact with the floor. Check that the locknuts are
tightened. See “Level the Washer.”
Is the floor flexing, sagging or not level?
Flooring that flexes or is uneven can contribute to noise and
vibration of the washer. A ³⁄₄" (1.9 cm) piece of plywood under
the washer will reduce the sounds. See “Location
 Is the load balanced?
Evenly distribute the load in the washer basket and make
sure the height of the load does not exceed the top row of
basket holes. See “Starting Your Washer.”
Do you hear clicking or other noises when the cycle
changes from washing to draining or spinning?
When the drive system shifts or the washer basket settles
between cycles you may hear noises that are different from
your previous washer. These are normal washer noises.
Is the washer gurgling or humming?

Is the washer level? The wash load
should be balanced and not overloaded. The washer must be
level. The front feet should be properly installed and the nuts
tightened. Reset the rear leveling legs (if needed). See the
Installation Instructions.
Did you completely remove the yellow shipping strap with
cotter pins? See the Installation Instructions.
• Are the gears engaging after the drain and before spin, or
is the upper part of agitator clicking during wash? These
are normal washer noises.

Let me know if any of these are the solution!
