The intenal pins are very worn not tripping the timer when the set time is aligned to do so. I have never seen a place that service these pins new as of yet. Finding a used one may cure the problem or else purchase a new one instead

Hi,
The switch for the pool pump does not necessarily run from the same power as the timer motor...

Check for timer motor rated power on the first two terminals that run the timer motor...you may not have proper power there...you may have 120v but not 240 volt...

Timer doesn't work. I think it is part no. WG-430-3. Could I just replace this part or should I get a new Timer. If so, How would I replace it?

Before you do anything make sure the power is turned off to prevent injury or death. If the timer motor is not turning the timer then you can replace the motor. Some models are different than others but there may be one or two screws that hold the timer to the enclosure. Once these screws are out then a clip will release the timer and it will rotate out for access to the insides. the motor is the round thing behind the plate. It can be removed by disconnecting the skinny wires that go down to the terminals and then loosening or removing the screws that hold it in place. Be careful not to loose any screws. Bring the motor in to your pool store and they should either have one or be able to order one. Install the new motor and reassemble everything. I hope this helps.

Need trippers for older unknown model number amf paragon pool timer. timer is 15 - 20 years old

Paragon no longer makes timers or parts, except defrost timers.
Typically, defrost timers are not used for pools.
Open following link to possibly identify timer and tripper part number.
http://waterheatertimer.org/Paragon-timers-and-manuals.html

If you want a new timer for pools, Intermatic makes the T101 120Volt and T104 240Volt:
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-wire-T104-Intermatic-timer.html

If you want T100 series timer with fireman's switch that turns off heater 10 minutes before turning off pump:

If you have energy-saving 2-speed pool pump, and thermostat and pool light, then buy P1353 digital timer with enclosure. Enclosure and timer sold together as P1353ME.
http://waterheatertimer.org/Intermatic-trippers-and-parts.html#P1353

P1353 is not easy to wire or program for novice, so you can add a comment or repost question on fixya and I will catch it.

It doesn't sound like you are getting a true 230 volts to the timer. Measure from terminal 1 to terminal 3. You should read 230 volts. If you are getting 230 volts between 1 and 3, return the timer, it's defective. If you are not getting 230 between 1 and 3, then you'll have to have a look inside the electric panel to see what has been miswired. There should be a 2 pole breaker with a white and a black wire connected to it that goes out to the timer.

Clock does not work to turn pool filter on and off. do I need a new timer mechanism or clock motor

Things to check:

1) Is yellow dial rotating? If not, then clock motor is probably bad. T-100 240V time clock motor sells for $16 at grainger.
Also timer may not be getting 240V so check manual override.

2) If clock motor is turning, but manual override never clicks on-and-off, then pins are probably worn out. Buy pins at grainger

3) Does manual override work? Does it click crisp? If manual override clicks crisp on-and-off, and pool filter turns on-and-off normally, then a) the circuit is getting 240V and b) the timer mechanism is ok ... so clock motor is probably bad.

4) If manual override snaps crisp but pool timer does not turn on, then then circuit breaker could be bad, wire is loose, motor has gone bad
Test for 240 across poles 1 and 2
... or timer contacts are worn out & you need new T-104
See back of mechanical timer

5) If manual override is loose or sluggish, then you need new T104. You can buy a T-104, T-104R, T-104M etc ... and the interior body will snap into old box.

Note: Do not buy T-101 or T-103 as these have 120V motor.
