8x - 8 + 2y = 0
8X + 2Y = 8
y = -4x + 4
X = 0 por y-intercept
y=mx+b
Y = 8/2 or 4

    Easy peasy can you verify this for me fist please:
    y=3x 4
    3x=4-y
    x=4-y/3
    Hint:
    slope is 3/1
    y is 4 OR

    How can yall plot the points

How to solve and graph the equation 4x+y+0

The easiest way to solve and graph and equation is to put the equation into the slope intercept form y = mx + b, where m is the slope and b in the y-intercept.

To do this, we subtract 4x from both sides and get y = -4x + 0.

From this we know m = -4 (slope) and the y-intercept is 0.

I always start with the y-intercept and put a point there. Thus, we have a point at (0,0). Using this as a starting point, we now use the slope of -4 to get future points. Since it is negative, we go one unit to the left and up four units. So we have the point (-1,4). Using a ruler, we connect these points and continue on both sides to produce the line.

There is also a great free online program/app called Desmos that you can use to check your work. Type in the equation of the line and it will graph it for you.

Good luck,

Paul

X and y intercepts

First of all you equation is not one : it has nothing on the right side of the = sign. But to answer the general question let us write the equation as 50+25x-5y=0
X-intercept (also know as roots) There may be several
Definition: X-intercepts are those values of the independent variable x for which y=0. For a straight line there con be at most 1 x-intercept.
To find the intercept, set y=0 in the equation of the line and solve for x
50+25x-5(0)=0 or 50+25x=0. The solution is x=-(50/25)=-2

Y-intercept (also know as the initial value. There can only be 1 y-intercept, otherwise the expression does not represent a function.
Definition: It is the value of the dependent variable y when x=0 (where the function crosses the y-axis
To find it, set the x-value to 0 in the equation of the line.
50+25x-5y=0
50+25(0)-5y=0, or 50-5y=0. The solution is y=50/5=10
The straight line cuts the x-axis at the point (-2, 0) and the y-axis at the point (0,10)

-6x-3y=27

The x intercept is where your line will cross the x axis. Therefore, the value for y at this point is 0. Substitute 0 for y in this equation and solve for x.

6x + 3(0) = 27
x = 27/6
x = 4 1/2

x intercept = (4 1/2, 0)

Follow the same reasoning for the y intercept.

6(0) + 3y = 27
y = 27/3
y = 9

y intercept = (0,9)

Now plot these two points and draw your line through them.

How do I use this calculator to find the x and y intercepts when the problem has both the x and y letters. it will not allow me to enter the full equation. example problem is 2x-5y=20 and I need to find...

x-intercept (or zero of the function)
Set y=0 in the equation and solve fo x: 2x-5(0)=20 and x=20/2=10

y-intercept (initial value)
Set x= 0 in the equation and solve for y: 2(0)-5y=20 and y=20/(-5)=-4

If the equation is in the slope-intercept form y=ax+b
1. y-intercept is b
2. To get the x-intercept ( zero of the function) Set y=0=ax+b, and x=-b/a

Can i ask how to answer this?2x-4y-9=o

That is an equation describing a straight line. The "slope-intercept" form of a line is

y = mx + b

where m is the slope (change in y-value / change in x-value)
and b is the y-intercept (the point where the line crosses the y-axis when x=0)

Positive slope means the line is rising and negative slope means it's falling.

You can rewrite the original equation 2x - 4y -9 = 0 in slope-intercept form:

y = (1/2)x - (9/4)

So you know the slope is positive 1/2 (line rises 1 y-unit for each 2 x-unit change) and crosses the y-axis at -9/4. With this information you can graph the line.

Find an equation of the line containing the given pair of points (-6,0) and (0,1) what is the equation of the line? y=

Calculate the slope (gradient) of the line as a=(y2-y1)/(x2-x1) where y2=1, y1=0, x2=0, and x1=-6. You should get a=(1-0)/(0-(-6))=1/6
The y-intercept is the y-cordinate for x=0. Its value is 1.
The equation is then y=(x/6) 1.

(-4,6), m = 8

The equation of a straight line is given by y=mx + b where y if the y intercept on a graph and x is the x intercept on a graph and m is the slope of the line

Using the given information of ( -4, 6), m=8

-4 is the x intercept, 6 is the y intercept and the slope is 8.

Plugging these values into the y = mx + b gives 6 = (8) (-4) + b solving for b gives b = 32

Going back to the original equation of a straight line gives the equation of y = 8x + 32

Hope this helps Loringh PS Please leave a rating for me Thank you
