Moving my fridge on it's side or at an angle

You can lay it down but if you do, when you stand it up, wait 24 hours before you plug it in to turn it on. The reason is because the oil in the cooling system has to settle after being layed down.

GE model GTS22WCP can I lay it on it's side or back to transport?

it is not recommended to lay an appliance with a compressor, the reason is that the compressor oil will run to one side and the appliance will not function properly. i have heard that if laid down the make sure to stand the appliance upright for several days before plugging it in.

How to clean

I alway remove the ice box to a work lift. A truck tailgate or picnic table will work. I look at the compressor lines. I want to lay the machine down on the side. I do not want the oil to run down in them lines so I want them up. Remove as much as you can with a broom then use a lawn leaf blower or a shop vac to blow out them coils. Stand it back up and wash out the inside. 409 or mean green is fine. Wait a day before plugging back in.

We need to transport a sam sung fridge freezer, is it ok to lay it on its side?

It is not a good idea to lay it on it's side. However it can be done and if you do it, the secret is when you get to where you are going stand it upright and do not plug it in for at least 24 hours. That gives the oil a chance to go back down where it belongs.Waiting 48 would be even better. Hope this helps.

How long should you leave a new refrigerator before you plug it in?

Good day,
If it was layed on it's side, at least 12 hours. This allows the oil to return to the compressor.
If not, An hour should be fine.

I am moving and need to lay the fridge on its side, but have been told you cannot do so, is this correct?

You do not want to lay that refrigerator on its side because the refrigerant will leave the compressor and fill the system with liquid refrigerant where it should only be existing in a gaseous state, and if the refrigerator is tilted far enough over or lay-ed onto its side then the refrigerator will have to stand up-right and un-plugged for at least 24 hours before the liquid refrigerant will settle back down where it belongs, and then the refrigerator should actually function again if there was no other damage caused when moving the unit.

Does it hurt a five year old refrigerator to lay it down while in transit?

If you lay it down for any reason , let it stand for 24 hours , before plugging it back in . This will give the oil , time to get back into the compressor . If you do not wait , and plug it back in , the compressor will try pumping the oil , without the refrigerant mixed , thru the system . This will cause restrictions , in several different places , which cannot be repaired . Restrictions will start in the dryer , then the accumulator . Basically the refrigerator will be useless afterwards . Warranty will not cover this .

Kitchen Aid refrigerator is making a very loud noise!

when you transported this unit did you lay it down or stand it up? If it was layed down then you should of waited at least 24 hours before plugging it up again to give the oil in the compressor time to settle back down. Actually either way it was transported it still needed the 24 hour rest time. So if you automatically plugged it in after transportation you could have messed up the compressor. Let it set unplugged for 2 days then plug it in and see what happens. If loud noise persists then you know the compressor is shot. Goog Luck.
