Oops, well don't do anything to the card meaning don't put it back in the camera and start shooing images over the deleted files or they can't be retrieved. The pits of this is I can suggest any specific memory card recovery program but, what I can suggest is that you do a search using Google. I don't know what country you are in but for Canada it's www.google.ca for the US I'd say it's www.google.com enter (memory card recovery program) it's possible before you get it typed out it's already giving you options. There are several good "free" trial version that can be selected for download. Sorry for the mix up and I hope you can get your files back Happy New year

Don't be so worried about ur pictures. There are some gud photo recovery software available on internet. But first of all please stop using d card anymore to increase d chances of recovering files. Then you need rely on professional photo recovery tool. Download the software from the following urlhttp://www.nucleustechnologies.com/Digit... and follow the following steps:
    1. Install the software on ur computer.
    2. Connect the memory card to computer.
    3. select the drive(usually G or H for memory card) , click Start. Now the scanning process will start to search the deleted files. After a while you will then get a list of recoverable files.
    4. Press Recover to perform full recovery.

My macbbok air & MacPro will not import camera pics in JPG fprmat The file is in unrecognozed format > never happened before?

Try this...create a folder to hold the pics on your desktop. Use a card reader and plug in the card and then the USB to the computer. The icon that appears will say something like "no name". Double-click to open it....click control/A to select all the files. While holding alt/option, drag and drop the files into the folder you created. Eject the "no name" and your pics should now be ready for further viewing and/or processing.

Once the pictures have gone from the camera to the computer a different code or tag is used so the computer programing can read it it's a one way ticket from the camera to the computer hard drive but not back. Once the file is opened altered (by deleting images) the camera firmware can not read the file.

First of all, do you know you're supposed to download the pics from your full card to your computer and then format the card in the camera? Keeping them on the card is risky since the cards are not made for long term storage. The pics can degrade over time. Formatting completely erases a card and that's what happened with your new card. All new cards should be formatted in the camera before using....that's what your camera was trying to tell you.

Vivtar Freelance Camera...All pictures gone!

Most likely, yes. Try to use a USB card reader. Take the card off the camera, put it in the reader and connect it to the computer. If there is no sign of files, download PC Inspector File Recovery, install it and run it. You can get it from here: http://download.cnet.com/PC-Inspector-File-Recovery/3000-2248_4-10118663.html
Good luck in saving your pics.

Pictures messed up between camera and computer

It sounds like jpeg file corruption. What do the pictures look like on the camera's screen?
If they look OK, try using a card reader to transfer the pictures and not the camera. do they transfer OK now? If not then the card may have a problem OR there is a problem with the USB on the computer that is causing it.
If they look wrong on the camera then it's possibly the card at fault.
What I would do is download what pictures you can and then give up on the others and reformat the card in the camera. That will clear the card as if it as brand new. Take some more pictures and see if you can transfer them successfully.
I've had a card fail (so far only 1) and it's really annoying, reformatting didn't help either, it was still faulty!
There is always the possibility that the camera is at fault! I hope not.
Try shooting some pictures in RAW format instead of jpeg and see what happens then.

Memory card says it needs to be formatted but i have pics on it and I need them..please help I will be waiting!

I had the same problem with my 4Gb card that has 750 photos on it. I tried doing different things, however, it did not work. At last I took the card out and blew on its chips, gave it a good shake and put it back. Then, the miracle happened. It could read all my photos. I guess there was some dust that had accumulated on the chips at the back of the card. Hope it can help you, too.

Pics appear on camera screen but not on card

If you can review the photos on the card while it is still in the camera (and by review, I mean go back and forth between multiple photos on the card), then there are two possibilities: 1. The photos really are on the card, and your computer can't read the card. 2. The photos really AREN'T on the card, and are perhaps in internal memory on the camera instead. Some thoughts for things to try: 1. Put the card in the camera, take a few photos, make sure you can review them all on the camera. Take the card out. NOW try reviewing photos on the camera with NO card in. What happens? 2. Try putting the card in your card reader in your computer. Copy a file (any file, a word document, anything) from your hard drive onto the card. Is it there? Can you copy the file back off the card to somewhere else? It sounds like the camera is fine, and the problem is with the card or the media reader.
