Question about D-Link AirPlus Xtreme G DI-624 Wireless Router (DI624RE)

2 Answers

My wireless is no longer working. I have a Dlink 624. All the lights are on, but the laptops can no longer connect. Is there a way to make sure it is properly connected to the DSL via the desktop computer?

Restart the router by:
Disconnecting power Let it cool down Switch on wait for the lights to settle down Try to connect to the internet with your laptop.
If it succeeds you're good. If it fails browse to 192.168.2.1 If you see a router page your LAN is OK not your WAN - you may then need to login and set up the the connection to your ISP.
If you don't see the browser page you will need to repair your network connection (reboot - or network and sharing form control panel)

If your trying to get on the internet with a wireless connection.and running WINDOWS,(many problems with LINUX) .and I am assuming you DO have a wireless router all set up and configured to broadcast the signal (not hidden) ....first we have to determine if the problem is at the router or at the laptop AND at what point its getting stuck ... so first try this

try resetting the router (disconnect the power to it for a few minutes) next --be sure the wifi switch is enabled on the netbook---TRY IT NOW--if still having problems---go to CONTROL PANEL>NETWORK CONNECTIONS--right click oin your wifi card and choose properties--highlight INTERNET PROTOCOL and choose properties and be sure "OPTAIN IP ADDRESS AUTOMATICALLY" is checked--Does the laptop "SEE" the router?
You will need your SSID to logon to the router(internet)
follow this is a link to a troubleshooting flow-chart-Do check it out

If you continue to have problem..indicate at what point in the flowchart it is getting stuck

If this was helpful, please indicate so, if not -comment back so we can dig further to resolve this

Check the plug of network wire going into PC - OR Replace the wire completely. Maybe blow out any dust from the socket. It may work if you just wiggle the plug in the socket.

If none of that changes anythig, then you may need to replace the network card in the pc.
If it's built in to the mother board, you can disable it in BIOS, and install a new one.

I don't think your problem is firmware. Can you ping the router from your laptop?

So- Red - First of all don't rate yet. This will probably take a couple notes. So, let me make sure I've got this straight:
AT&T

Modem>>>>Linksys>>>>DLink( no status or pwr lt)
v v
ptr ptr

Is this crude diagram about right? Are the ptrs wired or wireless?
How many pcs? Wired or wireless? Getting their ip from which router? Linksys model #? Operating systems?

Di-624 stopped working

Hi sailaway!
. Make sure the router is going from the modem, to the port marked WAN, on the 624. You can test the cable, by plugging it directly into you computer, from the modem, if you want to. Disconnect the power from your modem, your router, and turn off your computer Wait 1 min. Turn on the Router, wait three full min's. Power up the 624, and wait one min. Power up the PC. Reason for the long wait on the modem is that it has to get data from the internet, to give to the router. If that don't hwlp, try changing the cable from the PC to the router, to a different port. If all that don't work, try resetting the router by gentley pressing a straightened out paperclip into the reset hole in the back. Hold it for 30 sec. If that fail resetting it, try holding it in while you unplug the 624 and plug it back in. If it resets, go thru the first steps to set it up again. If all that fails, your 624 may be bad. Had that happen to me. The steps I listed brought it back to life for about 2 months, and it died completely. Good Luck!
