Normally there is a reset that has to be pressed for about three seconds in order to rest the unit filter system.the button may be located somewhere the filter change light is.

No Water going in to the fridge

Hi Norm,

Most fridges don't need a motor to run in order to dispense water. A simple on / off solenoid on the water line (same for the ice maker) that makes a click when changing from off to on and on to off is usually all anyone hears (the ice maker makes rumbling sounds and you can hear ice falling into the bin - too).

Check for ice. If it has a maker and it is making ice, the problem could be a defective water dispenser switch, solenoid or other circuit component or wire. If no ice, I'd suspect a filter or water supply issue.

Make sure the filter is fully inserted and twisted into place. Many filters have marks to align when 1) inserting and 2) to let you know when it is installed correctly. When sure it is installed correctly - try to dispense water again. Many fridges will dispense water without a filter. Check your manual before trying this though! If not working still, remove the filter and try to dispense water. If you're able to dispense water, the problem is either the installation of the filter or the filter itself. Try to re-install it correctly. Try to dispense water again.

If it still doesn't work - call the plumber back and ask why there's no water. Or - try this yourself:

Locate the point of attachment to the domestic water supply that the plumber used. There should be a valve to turn the water on and off. If off, turn ON. Try to dispense water again.

If that doesn't work - check to see if the fridge has pinched, kinked or crushed the water supply line. You may need to move the fridge forward to gain access to the water line and connection point on the fridge. Repair or replace the line as needed and route in such a way that moving the fridge in or out will not cause it to damage the line again.

Good luck!

Ice Maker works but water dispenser doesn't

The solenoid valve is located where the water line connects to the fridge. There is a micro switch that the paddle in the door operates when you push a glass against it. Sometimes the plastic locating pin that holds the switch in position breaks and allows the switch to move away from the actuating lever.

I have a Whirlpool fridge that needs a new water filter. Twice now, when I remove the filter to change it, water gushes out even though the ice maker is OFF. I quickly turn off the water line and mop

The Whirlpool fridge requires a water supply connection to a cold water line. Before you connect the water supply to the water line on the fridge, make certain the unit is unplugged from the wall. Press the button and drop down the cover. Then twist to release the old filter and twist the new one into the filter head. Run about 2 gallons of water through dispenser to remove any air from the lines. Liquid EPDM Rubber Roof Coatings for Roof Leaks Repair EPDMCoatings

ED25DWXTN01 AFTER DISCONNECTING AND MOVING TO A NEW LOCATION I CANNOT GET WATER FROM DISPENSOR OR WATER UP TO THE ICE MAKER IS THERE A WAY TO BLEED THE SYSTEM?

In effect the only thing different is you moved the fridge and switched the water off. Make sure the water is getting to the fridge pipes connected to the fridge valves.(normally blue in colour.). If not rectify problem. If water is there, suggest you remove water filter in the fridge compartment and by pressing the water dispencer button see if water runs out at the filter adaptor. If not, there is an issue with the solonoid valve/s (very unlikely thougf) Could very possibly be the water is frozen and needs defrosting. Because there are variables that i havent been given, im surmising a lot. Normally when you depress any of the dispencing buttons,a clicking sound will be heard from the solonoids at the back. Simply the water should flow up the pipe to the filter then to the dispencer outlets. Most of the time, the water is either off or filter is blocked or limit switches at dispenser end is faulty. Very unlikely that both are defective at once so check the filter and water supply. If stuck, email me on terfou@imaginet.co.za

How do I turn on the ice maker?

This might sound like a silly question but... is the water line connected on the back of the appliance? If so you may have something stuck in the water line, or a bad valve that is not allowing water to flow. Hope this helps.

Jenn Air fridge water dispensor stopped working

Hi: You press the switch and it makes a faint humming noise. That tells me the switch on the front panel is ok. The switch for the ice and water is actually on the bottom of the ref. The internal system of the ref is not under city water pressure. Ice is made so that's ok. There is a solenoid where the water attaches to the fridge down below which can fail. Just for giggles try tapping the switch with the plastic handle of a screwdriver. To loosen any scale that might have built up. As I'm unemployed also I'm giving you that trick. Otherwise I would just say replace it. I hope this helps, Jeff

Water dispenser in fridge

Possible problems could a bad water valve (dual valve), bad micro switch which is activated by pressing the button for water to come out. On some models the bracket that holds the micro switch could be broken not allowing the button to activate.
