Sorry to read about your problem, I hope this helps you out.

you should not need any drivers, for basic operation. and since you tried 2, i think you have a defective mother board, you can maybe try a usb keyboard, you will need to load drivers.

You may want to borrow a USB keyboard and try that before taking the prev. experts advice.

It may be that there is an issue with the ports but if you have USB connections then the workaround is just that simple without the expense of a new motherboard and all the hassle of re-installing the operating system etc etc etc.

Barret should have been aware of this workaround and offered it as an alternative to his expensive method

How do i unlock a keyboard E machine 9908

Unlock a keyboard? Do you mean your e machine is locked? If the keyboard is not working get a generic ps2 keyboard at a local goodwill for a few bucks. First though check the pins on that round connector and make sure they are not bent.
I have never heard of a keyboard for emachine computers ever, ever having a lock. For what it is worth I have been fixing computers since 1993. Machines is a low cost consumer box without much in the way of bells and whistles but a lot of bloatware.

Keyboard problem & it doesn't work prefect

If the keyboard has a round purple connector, power down the computer then unplug and then plug in the keyboard. Power on the computer. If it works your done if it doesn't replace the keyboard. If this is a USB keyboard, with the computer on, unplug and plug in the keyboard if it works great, if it still isn't working replace the keyboard. NOTE if this is a multi functional keyboard (special keys at the top) make sure you install the driver and any software associated with the keyboard.

When I hit any key, it throws in a bunch of asterisks

Could be either a short in the Keyboard or it is not USB adapter compatible, some mice are like this. Plug it into a computer with PS2 port and see if it still malfunctions, if it does then the keyboard has a short, if not, it is incompatible with a USB adapter. Keyboards send two codes whenever a key is pressed, one for the key itself and one to let the computer know it the Shift/Ctrl/Alt keys are being pressed.

Emachine keyboard plugged in..desn't work, num lock lgt on but no keys type

I would replace the keyboard first as keyboards do tend to be abused from time to time. Plugging another board in will tell if you have a driver issue or what ever else could be wrong.
Hope that helps.

I purchased an emachines a few years ago but continued to use the keyboard that I was familiar with. It is now worn. I have installed the new emachines keyboard and nothing lights come...

Did the old keyboard plug into a PS2 keyboard socket (round purple connector) or into a USB port (flat rectangular connector)? Similarly, what type of connector is the new keyboard?
If it is the round PS2 connector you may have connected into the green PS2 mouse socket instead of the purple keyboard socket. Although the sockets are similar, they work differently.
If it is USB, then try moving it to a different USB port.
Try the keyboard on another PC.
If you cannot get it to work then replacement keyboards are very cheap.

I dont know how to connect the keyboard to my computer does it have any soft ware or extra wire to connect?

The keyboard does not have any software (It is plug and play). It has only a single wire. There are two different type of connectors at the end of these wires.
Some keyboards have PS/2 connectors and the connectors are round shaped and other keyboards have USB connectors which are flat in shape.
Take a good look at all the wholes on your computer and at the same time look at you connector (It will be either PS/2 or USB) and slowly and carefully insert the connectors.

note:There are two types of PS/2 connectors. One is for mouse(usually green colored) and the other for Keyboard (usually violet colored). Insert you keyboard accordingly.

I can't think of anything more to tell you. I already told you the problem on the previous page. I'll repeat some of it ...............I spilled a cup of coffee on my keyboard. I took the keyboard apart...

The round connector is called a PS/2 connector and was used prior to the advent of USB. This was a very common connector and is not specific to your E-machine. You can either try to find a PS/2 keyboard (maybe E-Bay) or you can use a USB mouse if you have an unused USB port on your computer.

Mouse and keyboard wont work

If it uses the PS2 type mouse and keyboard connectors, there exists a very real possibility that you have the connectors reversed.

Your computer should recognize a USB keyboard. Go for it.
