Check the pressure switch and the lines going into it for blockage. The video below will walk you thru the process.

Washer works fine until it starts filling on the rinse cycle, then the water just flows out of the drain. Last night the water was running for 3 hours, before I realized it. The tub fills fine when it is...

Make sure the drain hose is not sealed to the drain pipe, and that the hose is not shoved into the drain allowing the end of the hose to reach the trap. That will prevent the machine from syphoning out the rinse water as it fills.

It's a model 110, series 80. The water doesn't stop and it over flows. The machine doesn't start the wash cycle

If your washer fills, won't shut off and then overflows, this is caused by either a pressure switch malfuction, or a water inlet valve that won't shut off. The following link explains how to diagnose the problem and replace any parts (if required):

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3753517-whirlpool_top_load_washer_fills_when_not

I know the link is for a problem where the washer continues to fill even when it is not in use, but this problem occurs while the washer is running as well. The method of determing the cause is the same.

In many cases, an overflow problem is caused by the air hose slipping off the pressure switch. Without the air hose, the pressure switch never detects the pressure differential from the wash tub as it fills and won't shut off. This causes the washer to overflow and appear as a more serious problem.

Read through the link provided and let me know if you have any questions. If the conditions I have described do not match your symptoms, please post back and elaborate a bit more so I can help you determine the source of the problem. Please include your complete MODEL NUMBER. I hope you find this information helpful.

NOTE: "110" is the manufacturer code, which identifies the manufacturer of your washer as Whirlpool. Please include all the numbers that follow these first three numbers in order to properly identify the model of your washer. The model number is located on a nameplate along the wash tub rim under the lid.

Kenmore 80 series washer doesn't stop filling up with water

Almost went and bought a switch until I widened by search for "kenmore washer 80 series overflow" and came up with this:
http://www.fixya.com/support/t1206464-kenmore_80_series_overflow

Turns out that a couple weeks ago, I had a really unbalanced load that probably shook off the tubing. Anyhow, saved me a trip to the supply store AND cost. Thanks to the original poster!

    Kenmore washing machine 80 series

check for kinks in the pipe or restrictions to the flow in the pipes before it gets to the washer, if all is ok then check the filter on the outside of the water connector on the machine for dirt

if you confirm all is clear and the flow of water is not the problem before the machine, replace the cold water solenoid
