Question about Frigidaire Washing Machines

2 Answers

Front loading ATF6700 goes into "pause" mid cycle every 2-4 minutes during wash and rinse cycles. I can restart cycle by pushing "Pause/Start" a couple times.

It pauses "mid cycle" not at the end of the cycle when it would be pumping water out. When I cancel the rinsing and start the washer all over in the spin cycle alone, it pumps water all out, without the stand pipe over flowing, and spins the normal semi dry before stopping at the normal end point.

Your answer seems to be for another question/problem.

  • garyamado Jan 02, 2011

The pause comes in Mid-cycle not when it is trying to pump water out. There seems to be a hum that precedes the pause. It ran completely through when I reset the washer to the Spin only cycle.

Are you referring to a lower panel on the back because the front is just one full panel. Also, the Frigidaire Service Manual shows no filter on the drain pump or a drain pump filter cover that I can remove.

  • garyamado Jan 02, 2011

Sorry, neither of the 2 solutions received seemed to pertain to my Frigidaire washing machine. I discovered while investigating further that the cold water valve had been inadvertently turned off and apparently the machine automatically goes into "pause" when wash or rinse turns on when "cold" set and no water enters.

Do I get a return on my $12?

You are going to have to remove the lower panel and clean the drain pump filter. Easy job, once the panel is removed the filter will be right in front. Get a bucket and unscrew the filter cover and you should find a ton of lint and stuff in there. This model has a pressure switch that detects if there is water in the tub. If so it will do this pause and slow spin. Once the pump filter is clean you should be good to go. If this does not fix the problem then the pressure switch is bad. Try this first and let me know if you need advice on the pressure switch. Thanks for using Fix ya

Absolutly, if a solution to your problem is not given to your satisfaction there is no charge, just make sure you reject the answers given if your not satisfied. I am sorry that I didn't have the correct solution on my first try at this but I am glad your back in business. The problem you described was a common issue with drain pumps and that is why I started there, this is the first I have seen with the water being shut off, I didn't expect that one.

Hi, check your exit hose spigot, it may be clogged. This is if your filter is all clean. There should be air for passage in the standpipe behind. Your hose should not fit air tight into the standpipe and neither too deep into it. Snaking out your standpipe would be good too.

I pressed the pause button to add a garment to my Whirlpool frontload washer. After doing so, I pressed the hold to start button, but the washer would not restart the cycle.

Switch the power off from the power outlet for a few minutes , then switch on and reset the wash cycle . Front loaders are not designed to add clothes mid wash.

Washing machine does not drain during rinse cycle?

Turn timer to rinse cycle. let fill up and agitate. when it stops agitating it should pause then start to pump water out. After about 2 minutes it should pause for 3-5 seconds then start again and spin. If it starts the first time and never stops it will just continue to pump but no spin. The 3-5 second pause allows the transmission to shift to spin. If it does not do this the problem is your timer. You may need to do this a few times to verify the problem.

If that is not the problem it is likely that you need a new clutch. You will need a technician to install a new clutch for you

Washer stops during rinse cycle and isn't easily restartable....

Sounds like the contacts in the timer has a problem. Unplug washer. Remove the back of the washer and spray WD40 in the timer. Put towels around and under to to collect excess runoff.
Rrotate washer dial 25 times and spray some more wd40. Rotate 25 times again. Do a wash load. If it works put everting back together.
