You can take these apart and clean the contacts with some sand paper. I fixed mine that way. Need a diagram? http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partse...

Where is the location of the freezer defrost timer

The defrost timer is usually located in the top of the refrigerator compartment or in some older models its located in the base of the unit. Normally you will see a small 3/8" hole in front of the timer that is used to move the defrost timer manually with a regular (flat type) screwdriver.

Freezer is not deforsting

If your model you listed is a TFX27PRBWW it will have a defrost timer located in the fresh food compartment and behind the controls. It's location is 257 in this photo HERE I would like you to turn the timer clockwise slowly until youi hear the compressor and fans stop. This should put the refrigerator into defrost if the defrost heater is still working. Did you hear any crackling or sizzle when place into defrost this way? Wait up to 35 minutes for the timer to come out of defrost and it should restart the refrigerator compressor and fans. If it does not come on automatically then simply turn the timer slowly clockwise again until they do restart. If you need to turn timer again to start refrigerator you will need to replace the timer=> WR9X489 Defrost Timer
2_1_2013_8_42_52_pm.jpg

If the defrost timer is not the problem then we move to the freezer side, remove the rear panel of freezer and defrost the frost covering the evaporator as in this photo HERE The model TFX27PRBWW takes a=> WR51X10055 Defrost Heater Assembly
2_1_2013_8_53_33_pm.jpg

and the defrost thermostat=> WR50X122 Defrost Thermostat
2_1_2013_9_08_25_pm.jpg

The defrost heater is location 230 and the defrost thermostat is location 24 in this photo HERE Instructions in testing these parts are located on the parts pages I listed above. Please let me know if the model number is different than the one above your post so I may help you better, Thanks Sea Breeze

I can't find the wiring diagram for my whirlpool refridgerator.... MOD.#ET19RKXFN01 SER.#EG3222178. Can you please help. I need to change the defrost timer.....Thanks

I will try to locate a wiring diagram for your model ET19RKXFN01 but to change the defrost timer you will only need to know its location. Here is a link to the repair parts=> ET19RKXFN01_Repair_Parts_List
Go to page 5 of the repair parts list and you will see item number 4 Then on page 6 of the parts list you will see the timer part number beside the item 4. That is your defrost timer part number 2193084 Defrost Timer

Your refrigerator is an older model and may have the wiring digram in a packet behind the kick plate in the front near floor. Changing the defrost timer will not require use of a wiring diagram. Simply remove the old timer and replace the new defrost timer by plugging it into the wiring harness. The defrost timer can be found behind the control panel inside the fresh food compartment where the controls are located above the top shelf. If you have questions just let me know, Thanks Sea Breeze

Fridge stopped cooling but freezer works what could it be

Most likely the=> WR09X10041 Defrost Timer
8_16_2012_6_32_05_pm.jpg

found inside the fresh food section and behind the control panel. Click HERE for the location. Part location number 648 is the defrost timer. Location number 618 is the=> WR51X10038 Defrost Heater Assembly
8_16_2012_6_39_15_pm.jpg
If you change the defrost heater then you should also change the WR50X10071 Defrost Thermostat
8_16_2012_6_44_55_pm.jpg

and that is the location number 620 found HERE First I want you to try turning the defrost timer slowly clockwise until compressor and fans stop. Leave like this up to about 30 minutes. You should hear crackling and sizzle noise inside the freezer. If after 30 minutes the compressor and fans do not restart this will indicate the defrost timer and that part will need replaced. Try that first and let me know what happens. I will be here to answer questions if you like, Thanks Sea Breeze

I need to locate the defrost timer on my amana bottom freezer ARB2217CW ... thank you.

Hello, click this link http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/frame_diagram.aspx?diagram_id=28338599&pkw_=basket&model_id=5167617&NewWindow=1
part number 12 is the defrost timer it is located in the ceiling of the refrigerator. You would have to remove the lights and there receptacles in order to access it. Which basicly you would unscrew the screws on part 2 which would give you access to the timer. If you have any further questions message me back. If you would like to know how to test the timer to see if it is working properly click this link for a video on how to test the timer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tPpLl2d0094
Please also remember when our chat has fully concluded to rank how this opinion has helped in your appliance situation it allows me to continue helping others in similar situations in the future. Thanks
Rick

I cant locate the defrost timer on my amana AFD2535FES. my freezer is cold but the fridge isn't

Hello,
That model refrig. does not use older style parts sorry their is no defrost timer. What is uses is a control board to turn on the defrost cycle. Before replacing the defrost control board check the defrost heater and thermostat first. Check both defrost heater and defrost thermostat first using a meter to check continuty on both of them. If either the defrost heater or t-stat dont hav econtinuty they will be the problem. If both check good the control should be replaced. These pictures show where the defrost heater and thermostat are while or model will look different the location of them will be very similar RMOSTAT IT MUST BE COLD SO CHECK IT WHILE FROST IS BUILT UP AROUND IT.oldtech2332_11.jpgoldtech2332_12.jpg

I am trying to respond to the defrost refrigerator problem but can't tell how to do so. The model is 106.70203990 Kenmore Elite Coldspot. I need to know how to troubleshoot the defrost timer and/or...

the defrost timer should be in the center hood, hanging from the refer section,
if you look up you should see the bottom of the timer
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/modelsearch_model.aspx?image=1&part_id=3110896&model_id=410075&pkw_=timer&x=14&y=16
it will look like this
you can turn it with a flat head
turn it till it till it clicks and the machine shuts off
it should turn the machine on in 20 mins or so
if it does its probaly good
the defrost heater is behind the back wall
its looks like a straight element , they best way to test this is to ohm it out,
no continuity, its no good
next while your behind the wall
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/modelsearch_model.aspx?image=1&part_id=3135377&model_id=410075&pkw_=thermostat
look for this part its your defrost tstat
make sure it looks just like the picture and not popped
sometimes this will actually pop open and be obviously bad

Freezer freeze up

Your model TFX20JRBKWWW uses a defrost timer part number WR9X489 located behind the light shield in the fresh foods compartment. (top back area). Just in case you need to know, the defrost heater is a part number WR51X10101 located behind the back wall of the freezer.
