Your laptop will automatically switch to battery power when it is not plugged into the wall. If this is not hapening, your battery is either not installed or is dead.

P1, P2, P3.... are just spare power connections from the power supply. Some units are not even labeled, because it does not matter which one you use as long as they fit. If this is what you are referring to.

Laptop will not power up.

Try the following:
  1. Remove batt. for 5 minutes.
  2. Put batt. back in notebook.
  3. plug in power
  4. make sure you have a power lite on the notebook.
  5. press power switch for 10 seconds.
Sometimes a notebook goes into "Hibernate" or "Sleep" mode, and then the file becomes corrupt. This will sometimes clear it up.
If you are asked to "Resume", say no.

Hi Enjoisays,

The issue here seems to be most likely a VGA cards issue. Since you had mentioned Laptop, and nivida, i presume it must be one of those notebooks from either toshiba, dell or acer (to my knowledge at least). If that is the case, it is also most liekly that the graphic cards is built into the motherboard and you must send it back for servicing.

The fact that your batt dies after 3 hours in hibernation also suggest that your priduct may be over a year old and that your batt lifespan is getting shorter. Some good practices when using a notebook is to use thr battery ONLY when on the road. If you're at home, try to use direct power via the charger provided. This will save the batt life for longer usage.

Oh yeah, and also, please note that chunky blots on screen with images not turning out right is def most of the time VGA issues. Hope this helped.
