Connect a LAN cable from Belkin to your laptop/computer's LAN port, open a browser on your laptop/computer and enter the Belkin's configuration URL. http://192.168.2.1 The default PW = blank (just press Enter) You can now change the default admin password. You can now configure the wireless settings. Now configure the wireless card in your computer/laptop with the router's wireless settings. To secure your wireless network from unauthorized access, please click on this link and follow my instructions :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559128-wireless_router_security
Maybe it has something to do with the internet protocol of your service provider. You didn't mention anything about your internet service provider. If you have Verizon DSL and you have a PPPOE internet protocol, you need to contact the technical support team of your service provider because they need to walk you through on how to configure the westell 6100 to bridge mode. I think if you connect a pc directly to the westell 6100 and open up a browser then go to 192.168.1.1, you will be directed to the modem's GUI where you can make the necessary changes on the settings of the modem.
Your problem could technically be caused by a number of things , the most common ( I experience it quite often at my in-law's ) is incorrect / default settings on your router . If your internet provider gives you a wireless router / dsl modem combo ( like AT&T Uverse ) the default settings are horrible . 1st thing to do is identify your router ( brand / model # ) & obtain the default administrator password ( either from the manufacturers website / user guide or by calling ( ex. AT&T ) . Once you have the administrator login & password , you can fine tune your network settings .
You will need to have a pc connected to the router with an ethernet cable ( at least for configuring , then you can disconnect & use wireless ) . You will then need to open a internet browser , & type in the router's web management console address ( 192.168.0.1 , 192.168.1.1 , or you can find it in the router manual ) & hit enter . You should now see a page with user & password blanks for you to login . Once you have logged in you can start configuring the router for better performance , media sharing , coverage , & security . I recommend doing a google search on your particular router to get some good ideas / presets for you to configure ( if you don't know what something means don't just start changing things for the heck of it ( you could very easily screw up your whole network ) . If this doesn't resolve your issue , try connecting with an ethernet cable instead of wireless , try disconnecting other devices on your network ( if you have a lot of devices ( pc's , phones , game systems , etc... )) , finally try performing a system restore if all else fails .
Can i have the brand name of the modem , Your Internet service provider name , so that we can configure the router with using the CD.
We have another method to configure the router that is manual configuration method.
you need to replace your modem with a router that is capable of running Network Address Translation. You are trying to route private IP's (192,168.x.x) over the public IP (internet) network.
The router has to be configured to trans-receive data as well as VOIP. The data packets send & receive has to activated and that can be done from the PC itself by logging in to the router software and rectify rhe settings therein. If you face any problems or want to know the correct procedure then ask the ISP to provide the details regarding the settings. It will be best if the ISP' scustomer servive person guides you over the phone where simultaneously you are the PC to follow instructions and execute them till the router has been properly configured.........sodeep
TRY ANOTHER RAM IF THIS DOES NOT WORKS
TRY RESETTING THE BIOS CONFIGURATION FROM THE JUMPER ON THE MOTHERBOARD
OR ELSE THE MOTHERBOARD NEEDS A REPAIR IF IT FALLS UNDER WARRANTY PERIOD
TAKE IT TO THE SERVICE CENTER OR ELSE BUYING A NEW ONE IS THE BETTER OPTION
NAT Configuration is also called Port Forwarding. You can simply open the ports by going to the router's setup page http://192.168.1.1 no username and password is admin. You can do it under Applications and Gaming tab, Port Range Forwarding.
