Question about Dell OptiPlex 780 MT Desktop Computer (Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 160GB2GB) (VARGCC21)

1 Answer

I have a Dell Inspirion 5315 dimension, not very old -- shuts down suddenly and has been doing this for a while. I reformatted the disk and reloaded the system thinking it could have been a virus. However, it's still doing it. Any ideas?

It's usually either heat or bad sectors on the hard drive.

I'd take the unit outside, open the case, and spray all the dust out with some compressed air.

If that doesn't resolve your issue you could run a hardware test, most Dell's have hardware testing utilities built in.

Best of luck!

Reformat the hard drive with an Fdsk command. You will need the operating software original disks to do this because when you reformat the computer will be so stupid it can't start. You will have to reload all of the software if you go this approach.

Stop 0x00000024 (0x00190203, 0x82F8FA28, 0x0000102, 0x 00000000) appears on my screen. Blue background. What can I do to repair this?

Your system has suffered an unrecoverable error. Either vital operating system files have been corrupted, deleted or overwritten or your hard drive has failed. I suggest reformatting the drive and reloading the operating system from scratch. This can also be cause by some virus infections currently in the wild ( viruses that are currently circulating the internet) so make sure you boot from a system disk and reformat the drive or drives from this boot disk. Sorry but you have very few chances of a successful recovery from this without reinstalling your operating system.

double check that everything is seated properly. remove obstacles from the vents of your pc to allow better air flow. usually the case is that something isn't seated or plugged in properly.

My Dell Dimension 4600 needs to be reformatted. The Dell reinstallation OS disk boots up and gets as far as "Windows Setup....press Enter to continue". Then it freezes. I have tried using both the original...

Before you go ahead and try reformatting the system , Please disconnect everything from the system (Except Mouse, Keyboard and screen)
and then try to use the disc to reformat the system. and if it still hangs up or freezes up that clearly seems to be a hard drive failure.

Hope this help.
Cheers!!!!

Dell 2400 dimension

One thing to try is this:

When the pc starts to boot up from the disk, and you get to the point where it asks which partition to install Windows, go ahead and delete all partitions (unless one has the restore image, or you just want to keep a separate partition), or just the main big one. Now follow the instructions to create a partition, and make it as big as desired, again depending on weather you want two, or just one large one. Now tell the pc to install Windows on the newly created partition and see what happens.
I am trying to help, so please don't rate me, UNLESS I fixed it. Thanks!

You can put the restore disk in if you have them. This will reformat the hard drive and reload your operating system.
