Our dyson isn't turning on completely. The motor makes a quiet hum, but that's it. Any ideas?

Why does my fully charged DC59 keep turning on and off

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC59's motor will make a rapid pulsing noise to warn you if something is stopping airflow from passing through the machine. The motor will then shut off for protection.

This should be quick and easy to resolve by checking the motorised floor tool, wand and bin inlet for blockages. It's also a good idea to give the washable pre-filter a rinse in cold water if this hasn't been done recently - we recommend washing it at least once a month. Make sure the filter is allowed to dry completely for at least 24 hours before replacing it.

I'm confident this will resolve the issue. If you would like further assistance after giving these steps a try, please call the Dyson Customer Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

Brush stopped spinning.

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty with your DC25. I'm surprised to hear the drive spindle has broken in this way - this can be caused by excessive friction, which may occur if the brush bar isn't kept free of threads or hair. We do recommend checking the brush bar regularly and removing any debris - the clear brush housing should make it easy to see when it needs cleaning. The video attached shows the correct way to do this.

Our experts will be happy to take some further details to confirm whether or not a replacement head is covered under the terms of our 5-year warranty, and assist you with ordering the correct replacement part if needed. If you can email your serial number and contact details to us at askdysonUS@dyson.com, someone will be in touch as soon as possible.

We'll look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes,

Jack

Ball makes a clicking sound and brush isn't turning

Check the brush. That could be the problem. Check the belt also. Your brush roller may need to be lubed or even replaced.Turn it over and wipe all the black residue off the bottom of it.------ Either the brush is getting clogged and blocked by dirt, hairs etc etc and that needs to be cleaned or the brush bar motor is got faulty and needs to be replaced.------- You can yourself replace this motor,m if its not running.------- To get instructions to disassemble the vacuum and replace the motor, click this link below :--- http://howtobyme.blogspot.com/2011/08/brush-not-turning-on-dyson-ball-dc24.html----------- This will-help.Thanks.Helpmech.

I changed the motor in my Dyson Animal hoover and works fine but after 15 minutes it stops as if it was turned off, if i leave it for a period (2 hrs)it will start up again and work for a further 15 mins...

Hi there

All Dyson vacuum cleaners are fitted with a thermal cutout, which will switch off the motor if it becomes too hot. This is normally caused by a lack of airflow to the motor, i.e caused by a blockage or a dirty filter.

I would make sure that you have completed the full blockage procedure and have thoroughly washed the filter and see if this helps.

Kind regards
Darran

First, check all of the ports, there are various covers you can take off to see if there is a clog, also check the hose for a clog. Make sure all filters are clean out. The worse case would be a motor problem.
