Question about John Deere Two Safety Warning Lights For All Tractors

Open Question

1998 John Deere 6410 MFWD cab tractor w/6500hrs. I have 3 lights blinking on the dash, the red stop engine light, the orange warning light, and a light that is located on the left hand side of the top row of lights (as seen from the seat), but does not appear in the owners manual I have. It looks like a gear with nothing in the middle. The lights all came on after plowing snow, no obvious signs of something wrong, hydraulic fluid level was fine prior to starting the tractor. Wondering about a sensor somewhere that might have gotten wet. Any Ideas?

SOURCE: system creeps down even when tractor is operating.

There are 2 potential problems -
1. Leaking spool on the control valve - rebuild the vale.

2. Cylinder blow-by. Disassemble piston and replace the seals.

To test if its the cylinder - retract the cylinders all the way... remove the hoses on the blind end (non rod end) of each cylinder, and again pull the valve to the retract position.

If fluid continues to pour out of the cylinder - the piston seal is damaged, and the affected cylinder must be repaired.

To test if the valve spool is faulty - disconnect the a and b ports just after the valve. Turn on the system and check for seepage from the disconnected lines (without moving the lever).

SOURCE: John Deere 1020 Weak 3 point hydraulics

I would suggest you find a JD dealer and buy a manual if you want to do the maintenance yourself. You can also do a Google search and find manuals.

I would also suggest you completely drain the old hydraulic fluid and replace it with new fluid and a new filter if it has not been serviced any time in the recent past.

The symptoms you describe can be low fluid and/or a clogged filter. If you or anyone else has run the tractor too long and it has low fluids and/or a clogged filter, you can damage the hydraulic pump and that can get costly.

Are you using hydralic fluid (not eng oil) in her?
Can you let it run on blocks for a bit - drain and re-fill transmission?

The service engine light came on at 8 hours. i changed the oil and filter etc. How do I get the service light to stop blinking that it needs service?

The service engine indicator will stop blinking on it's own. It is just a friendly reminder to have your machine serviced and cannot be reset. It will subsequently come on every 25 hours and last approximately 1 hour. That is if it's a John Deere mower. Hope this is what you're needing, Daniel.

John Deere 4410 PTO error code. One long flash, one short flash and then six short flashes.

Check the wires on the solenoids.

Items L, M, N are mid PTO, MFWD, and rear PTO respectively

Also look at the skid plates as the possible cause of wire damage. A cheap spot / zip tie will keep the wires away from any future damage. Often the wires are damaged / torn off by a foreign object striking the Solenoid.

I have a 6210 and at idle a light in the dash is blinking it is round and flat at the top with an arrow thru the side, what does this mean.

I can't specifically tell which light you are talking about but here is the dash lights for the 6210 with cab. http://manuals.deere.com/omview/OMAL152877_19/LX_OMBED011253_19_01DEC00_1.htm If you don't have a cab go here and select the correct diagram. http://manuals.deere.com/omview/OMAL152877_19/OMAL152877_19.htm

I have a john deere 6400 that wont start from cold even with a new battery it needs jump leads from another tractor and then still struggles the hazard warning light and the information light on the dash...

i had the same problem, it is most likely that your fuel lines are leaking and fuel pump in tank is weak
when the tractor sits for a while the fuel drains back into the tank, thus your injection pump has no fuel in it.i solved it by replacing all the lines and i added electric fuel pump on outside of tank and connected the power to key, when i start the tractor i turn key on for a minuet or so than start the engine ,it solved the problem.

7210 cab jd mfwd keeps popping out of gear, tractor burnt ground cable off of right side of engine, replaced ground cable but tractor will come out of gear and flash the neutral indicator light

It is probably a fluke unrelated to the reverse disengaging{the fact that it burnt off a cable}.If it has the original reverser still in place, the one that kicks it's self out and not the one that beeps at you, then it may need to be replaced. They usually didn'nt even make it all the way to the end of warranty before replacement was needed which is why they are now obsolete.I would start there, let me know how you make out.Note;if it just clicks when trying to start the tractor on occasion then replacing the starter relay on the right side of the engine may also fix your reverser problem ,rare, but it does happen.
