That would mean your smtp server needs to be fixed. what kind of email have you setup in Outlook? double check the server names and the port it is using, usually defaults to port 25.

Your internet setup has failed , you are only seeing old stored messages.

Use tools to check that the settings are correct.

You can force a send/receive from the tools menu.

You should first check all the mail setting for the mail account that does not work.

Your ISP will have those on the help page for your ISP.
If its is hotmail or yahoo mail etc then they too have help pages with the information you need.

If your settings are all correct then move onto checking your firewall and other INTERNET safety software such as antivirus. Norton can cause all sorts of issues with send and receive mail.

If it is outlook that is at fault then a simple and quick "repair" installation of MS Office will tend to sort those out. Just put your office CD in and follow the instructions but select the "repair my office installation" option

You didn't give a lot to go on so I can only give you the basic options to try point you in the right direction

make sure that you have properly setup your POP3 and SMTP setings for your email account. Have you created an email account already? Make sure the server settings for your POP and SMTP are well setup.

I use microsoft outlook 2003 and two weeks after the emails were sent to me, I just received them. Can you please tell me why the long delay. Thanks!


The problem may be on your ISP's side. I would ask them to verify your account. Also, can you receive emails immediatley if you click on the send/receive icon in Outlook 2003?

Another area to check is the options settings for checking email. I have outlook 2007 but it's either the same or similar.

click on tools then options then Mail Setup.
click on the Send/receive button and verify that the "Schedule an automatic send/receive every (X) box is checked. The x is typically 30 minutes.

If you change this be sure to click Apply or OK to accept the change.

Close outlook and search for *.SRS files once you find the files delete it open Outlook

srs files are for sending and recieving mails in Outlook

In microsoft outlook, clik on Tools> E-mail accounts>View or change existing e-mail accounts>change > correct outgoing mail server (SMTP) settings and press Test Account Settings.
If you receive a Task error message: ( X Send test e-mail message "Failed" ) perhaps you have been disconnected by your e-mail provider.
