HI, sorry I meant to put 56". Well as far as I know it is the original lamp. I just finished cleaning out the back ... fans, boards, etc. The lamp you are talking about is on the bottom all the way to the right in a pull out frame? The model # HL56A65OC1FX7A. All the fans are working properly. Let me know asap... Thanks Chris

So even though it gets very bright and then turns off , I need a new one . What causes it to turn off ... Is there a limit or a sensor that knows it is worn out?

  • Chris Galassi Jan 02, 2011

Or is it pulling to much resistance on is too hot?

  • Chris Galassi Jan 02, 2011

Thanks, I just ordered the lamp last night. I printed out the user manual and it also said when the green lamp light and the red temp/standbye light are blinking and after 20 min of trying all three lights stay on the lamp needs changing . I will let you know how it goes after I install the new lamp. Thanks again for all your help...Chris

It keeps trying to start and shuts off and after 20 min. of this then all three lights are on and not blinking, the third is the timer light. also inthe manual it says the two blinking lights are .. the lamp door is not closed correctly .. if I hold in the door switch it does the same.. wtf is wrong

  • Chris Galassi Jan 08, 2011

Ok got the lamp installed it, same thing is happening.. dont know what to do?

  • Chris Galassi Jan 08, 2011

OK got the lamp installed it , same thing is happening ... what can this be?????

  • Chris Galassi Jan 08, 2011

The fan does run when the lamp comes on , the only time the fan shuts off is when the tv resets and stars up again after trying to start. Maybe the fan is weak?

  • Chris Galassi Jan 08, 2011

what am I looking for ... if the board looks bad or any way to make sure if its bad or good?

  • Chris Galassi Jan 08, 2011

It is firmly in place ... now what?

  • Chris Galassi Jan 08, 2011

The lamp needs change out. The lamps may look good , but what happens is they build up a internal resistance and they get to the point where the it takes a long time for the unit to come on, or it will shut down, and then get where it will not come on at all.

Please tell me the exact model number of the tv so that I can tell you what the blinking lamp light means and how to fix it. I do not wish to provide generic advice.

Ok. Glad to hear that you have figured it out. If you have any problems with replacing the lamp, then let me know.

When the two lights are blinking, does the fan behind the lamp run? The timer and lamp lights are blinking then you have an abnormal temperature issue, so we should start by checking if the fan is running when the two LEDs are blinking.

    eagle338 Jan 08, 2011

No the fan is ruled out. Its turning off only because the tv is resetting itself. The next thing to check would be the connector that goes from the cover detection switch(that clicks when the lamp door is closed) to the digital board is plugged in. IF it is then we will move on to the temp sensor.

Like I said, you are looking for a connector that goes from the door switch. Follow it and it will lead you to the digital board, which is the one near the analog board(which has all the inputs). Check to see if the connector is firmly in place and not loose.

Ok. Next thing to try would be to short the pins on the connector(marked as CN101 in the image). Short the red and yellow wires and see if the lamp comes on. If it does not, then it is either due to a faulty replacement(can happen if you have purchased the lamp from a third party source). Check the lamp filament for signs of damage or a sub-detect board fault. Check the filament status and short CN101 and update me.

It seems tv needs lamp replacement as existing lamp has been reached at end of its working hours life and causing problem, it is not dead or broken yet but can say got weak.
Required lamp is available with Samsung Part Store for $140, click that link to view lamp image and price info.
Please buy Samsung original lamp for good picture in tv. Lamp replacement procedure is easy and written in user manual.
    Thanks.

When lamp start consuming more current than its rating due to its age, that activates protection circuit in tv.to avoid any damage of ballast supply and power supply. Over heating will kick temp sensor and you will see Temp led lit on tv front.

Hello.
It looks like you ignored lamp replacement in your TV. It have to be replaced every 2.5 years of average use. It's like oil change in a car. Regular scheduled service.
You can read info about lamp replacement in your TV owner's manual, buy lamp on-line and replace it by yourself to save some money.
Regards.
Russ.

DLP TV lamp went out, new one doesn't work either,

Well you have a Samsung TV, in this case, it's most probable that you might have an issuw with your ballast. It might not have enough energu to keep up with your new lamp. You might ask yourself, How could this be if it worked with the old lamp? Well the old lamp didn't have all of it's gases, like it used, when you recently purchased the tv or lamp, and as time goes by, those gases tend to go out.

Start with replacing the lamp. Then move on to the Ballast. Then the color wheel. Then the Power Supply. One of those parts should fix it. If not call back.

Hi, you have one of two problems, either the color wheel is going or one of the cooling fans are going, the color wheels are a very common problem in samsung dlp`s, sorry I can`t nail it to a specific part but I`d bet it`s the color wheel as they are notorious for failing in samsungs, video-tek

HLP, HCN HL-S The Start-up Problem or/and
3 LEDs in the front blinking.

Unplug the set, pull out the lamp module (not all the way - leave it on the track) and push it back in.

Power issues (Tv not turning on) were typically due to faulty ballast. While the TV reports a bad lamp it is the ballast itself causing the issue. Samsung is well aware and will replace both the ballast and the lamp (since the lamp can be prematurely aged but the bad ballast). After replacment most people stop having issues.
