Question about Panasonic SC-AK27 Shelf System

1 Answer

My school room has a SC-AK27 CD stereo system for background music. The system was left on over night and when I came the next morning all the indicator lights were on and the cassette tape holders would not close. The word hello is stuck on the display and I cannot turn off the power, either on the machine or with the remote. I have tried resetting by unplugging the unit and leaving it, but nothing functions still. Any ideas?

Thank you for your response. I don't think we can really call this a solution as an observation based on your expertise. It did tell me what I had already surmised in that I probably would need to take it apart and test the components. I was just hoping there was an easy reset or this was a common problem and the specific area could be pinpointed so I didn't need to go searching. I don't believe that a power surge is the issue as the unit is plugged into an outlet specifically designed to protect against surges for computers. If you have any other ideas that could be checked before I do the major over haul I would appreciate it. Thanks.

One other thing from my just submitted comment. I don't think I made it clear that there is power coming into the unit, it just powers up everything, all the lights and functions. In other words everything looks like it trying to work at once.

Hello,

This seems to me like a power problem. the system might have worked fine in the past, but that's electronics for you. Power surge, irregular power supply, excess power supply, etc can affect the unit thereby not making it to power on.

This unit must have a power supply board in it where power enters from the mains. A capacitor, fuse, diode, etc may have been defective on the power board and maybe that's why its not making the unit turn on. There might also be some disconnection or something, inside the unit which is not making it to power on.

To actually find out what's wrong, you need to disassemble the unit with a screw driver and check what's wrong. You will be needing a meter in order to test the components on the power board, once you detect any bad component, you can make necessary replacement at any electronics accessories store withing our vicinity. This is the only way by which you can detect the problem.

Of course, testing the power board with a meter will require someone that has the ability. So it you can't, then you might be needing the help of a repairman or you can call a friend that has the ability to help you out.

I wish you the best of luck.

Hi everyone I have s Panasonic Sa-AK27 that is stuck on standby mode, the thing is it has been on the box for the past 5years after my dad pased on he was the owner,so now I decided to use It

Very often when left for a long time the Electrolytic Capacitors in the power supply section dry up and cause it to get stuck in standby. The only cure is to replace all the big capacitors in the power supply section.

When playing a cd on AK27 it keps jumping

Hello,

there are two things that might cause this,

  1. its either your speaker is too close to the system, whereby the bass come out from the speaker shakes the system and makes cd's to skip or jump
  2. or the lens (laser) of your player is weak. Also if the disc inserted into the player has a scratch, it will make the playing Cd jump/skip.
One of the above is the cause of the problem. So you can rectify the problem by observing from the above reasons.

Good luck.
