That will be the oil under the lenses to keep the tube screens cool. They leak over time and if it gets onto the electronice, it is conductive and will damage the circuits.

Liquid coolant in big screen tv, what is it?

It is a very toxic material called Glycol==if touched it gets absorbed into your body by contact--there to keep the picture tubes cool.

Lens should never be taken apart---if it got on the circuit boards it will short things out and start dissolving leads and the actual board as well.

Liquide coms from RGB back projection tv.

The CRT will need to have new Coolant and new seals installed, and any circuit boards that were dripped on will need a very detailed cleaning to remove any residule as it can ruin the circuit board traces and solder connections

the fix may cost between 300 and $400 according to my conversation with Toshiba guys.

here is a trial fix that is only temporary as i believe it will hget steadily worse.

FIX: Unplug and leave for 20 mins, replug and startup as normal.

Hope it helps, Please dont forget to give a rating to our expertise level

Good Day, qfd333;
To find suspected liquid the PCB's, remove the front speaker cover and the small board held on by 5-6 screws. Look at the first 3 to 5" on the PCB. Use bright light it's not always easy to see. If fluid is spotted remove the boards from the back of TV. Use small brush, like old tooth brush, and acetone. You can get acetone from hardware stores
Look for rusted wires or parts and replace as necessary.
Good Luck, big IRISH.

Mitsubishi 10 yr old rear projection

Well, there is no lamp or simple part you can unplug and plug in. I have seen a couple of those sets with that symptom recently and it is caused by a faulty 9 volt regulator on the small signal board. This is not an easy part to change and the repair should absolutely be handled by a tech experienced in Mitsubishi projection sets.

Liquid under screen

You need to take the screen off the front. You will find the screen comes away from the frame and seperates into two sheets. The liquid is seeping inbetween the two. If you clean it with Meths it should sort it without marking it.
