Dyson dc 18 slim product breakdown

Your question could be asking several things:
A copy of the manual can be found here at Sears (
http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/user-manuals/DC18-dyson-inc-parts-UPRIGHT+VAC-manual ) if you are just looking for something that points to different parts of the vacuum and says what is where. A better copy is here (
Dyson DC18 Setup Guide ) (Trying to avoid places where you have to add some downloader bloatware to view the pdf).

If you're saying that the product is broken down, you'll need to be more specific. The manual covers general clearing of clogs and emptying. The most common aggravating situation I've seen in there for Dyson is that the upright units pretty much all shut off the brush head and suction when the vacuum is in the full upright position. This is the 'use the accessory tube' position where the suction is channeled up the handle. If you don't know that, and that there is either a button or hand-switch (For the DC18, a switch next to the main power button) that turns the brush on and off), then you can have lots of mystery working/not working behavior depending on whether the system is upright and whether the brush clutch is engaged.

Good Luck!

When you switch it on it cuts out the main electrical supply

You have a dead short in the unit---don't keep trying that or you may have worse---either it is possible to repair or not---replace unit if in doubt.

To summarize for you, here's a quick screen shot of the flat (main) belt replacement procedure (found on page 11 of the manual):

DC24. Why won't it turn on?

J Luke, it's not fully clear what the issue is - no power at all, or that the brush won't spin. The manual can be found here (
https://www.dyson.co.uk/medialibrary/Files/Dyson/Support/downloads/UK/floorcare/Manuals/DC24_Manual.pdf ) and a Dyson graphic for resetting the brushbar is here (
Reset brushbar ) A very common issue that a lot of people don't pick up on from a first perusal of the manual is that the brushbar will not spin when the vacuum is in a full upright position (this is what switches the suction over to the handle/wand, and no use spinning the brush with no suction, so it turns off). You may want to try again with the vacuum back inclined from upright. There are some models where part of resetting the brushbar after a blockage is to press the brushbar switch (grey switch next to main power switch according to forums, though not pointed out in the manuals) several times.

Other forums say that if something has actually failed, it's a PCB about 1% of the time and the actual brushbar motor the other 99%. That swap would go into a lot more detail than likely needed here.

Good Luck!

As soon as I plug Shark steam cleaner (S505UK) in to mains it trips all the power in the house out. I am using a 15amp extension lead. Are there any user servicable parts or repair centers in the UK?

When the main trip cuts out it indicates current leaking to earth within the guilty machine. In machines that combine electricity and water in close proximity (like yours) this problem is almost always caused by some electrical component getting wet.  I'm not familiar with this particular machine, but doubt if there are any user-serviceable parts. If there are any covers you can remove easily, you might try just exposing the innards and make sure they are dry.  If you can get inside, a gentle blow with a hair dryer might help.
As for repair centres, what part of the UK are you in? The place where I work is in south Oxfordshire, and we're always happy to have a look at problems like this... but no guarantee at this time, of course!

Manual Mode doesn't work

OK, so I had the same problem. I had not used the manual mode in quite a very long time. Went to use the hose the other day and nothing. Blinking light and no noise. Came here for an answer and iceray123 is on the right track.

On my bot, the switch is on the right side of the hose grip, so it's facing you when you look in the holder. It's a black, rubbery looking "teardrop".

I happened to have some electrical contact cleaner and gave it a squirt. Moved the switch in and out, working the fluid in there to clean out the gunk and the contacts.

Presto! She's hummed back to life!

If you don't have a can of contact cleaner you could possibly spray a little bit of WD-40. According to the WD-40 Job Site, it's also "A Great Contact Cleaner" **Your results may vary**

Hope this helps!

Electric motor does work when switch is turned on. Tried different electrical outlets but still not work.
Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Dirt Devil 12 Amp HEPA filer vacuum cleaner. It sounds to me like you may have a 2 motor system according to the picture and it also sounds like it could be the bottom motor of which if it is not working well then it may need replacement – there is really nothing you can do for the brushroll motor other than replacing it. Question? Do you have any suction from the main motor? If you do then it definitely is the brushroll motor that needs replacement. You can always check your Royal owners manual under the trouble shooting guide or you can contact the Royal cust serv dept listed below. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Windsor Sensor 12 Vacuum No Power

I'm an engineer for Hyatt hotels and I've worked with the S12 vacuums for a few years now. The most common problem electrically lies in the main switch and the power cord. Almost at no time in the past three years and working for 4 hotels have I had to replace any motor or board component for them. Take out the handle from the bag housing and use your volt meter/circuit tester to test the main switch, if that and your power cord are good, then you might have a bad fuse, which is located on the brush side of the main chip board. Any other questions, feel free to email me directly @ andrew.massey@gmail.com
