Question about Skull Candy Smokin' Buds Headphones

Open Question

I have the Smokin' Buds Mic'd from Skullcandy. The sound quality is fine when plugged into the computer, but when plugged into my iPod, the sound quality is horrible (kind of hollow sounding, no bass) unless I press and hold the mic button, but when I release the button, the sound quality becomes horrible again. What's going on?

SOURCE: Skullcandy lowrider xbox 360 headset microphone

Either it's not plugged in all the way or there is a short in the line somewhere. I would pop the ear cover off to look at the wiring, it could have come unsoldered.

My Skullcandy Hesh headphones have messed up sound with my ipod

I would say that if they work fine with other devices then your input jack on your ipod is bad. First I would plug other headphones into your Ipod and see if the problem persists. If not the case then I would plug in your headphones into a known working device and wiggle the wire at the connection point to see if you can duplicate the problem. If this does happen then you need to replace the connector (1/8th inch stereo male plug) on your headphones.

I don't know my Smokin buds earphones keep buzzing on my Nokia N97

Most likely the 3.5mm jack is damaged or the earpiece receiver itself. Try it on different devices. If it only happen on your Nokia, the frequency may not be calibrated easily

Do your old ones work ok?
If so take the new ones back and see if they can provide you with a pair that does not have the problem.

I got a skullcandy TI 1 year ago, and since two days the sound comes out normally, or without the left side, depending on the position of the wire connecting the MP3 to the skullcandy. It's very sensitive,...

What typically happens is that the base of the wire gets stressed from wrapping the cord around your media player and it eventually breaks the copper wire inside of the insulation. You likely can not even see the damage, let alone repair it. Be more careful with the next set, and might I recommend a set of AKG ear buds. I use AKG studio headphones and bought my little sister some AKG ear buds, very impressive quality very close to my studio headphones. AKG K 313
