Hi my name is wesley. you need to make sure the hard disk you put in is set to slave otherwise it clashes with your other hard disk and will not boot. you will see a jumper on the hard disk you can set to slave instructions is on the hard disk you just have to change witch two pins the jumper is on.

Need scsi/raid drivers on floppy to install winxp pro (at f6 prompt)

Hello the drivers can be downloaded here:

http://www.tyan.com/support_download_drivers.aspx?model=S.S2865

You need to unzip the file before you install the driver.
It should not be nessesary to install drivers before installing the windows system.
Check your bios boot settings to boot from the cdrom or dvd drive.
The cd or dvd drive must be the first boot device in order to boot from the windows disk.
Install windows with only one harddrive.
You can also add a harddrive later, when the installation is done and all drivers is installed.

Good luck

Hi,
I think that the operating has gone corrupt and needs to be reinstalled. First, make sure that your PC can read the hard disk in BIOS (at boot up, press F2 to enter BIOS and check "Drive Configuration). You should be able to find the hard drive (as well as CD/DVD ROM) here. If not check the hard disk cables etc. At boot up, you may also press F12 for Boot Menu and select the primary hard disk for booting up the PC.
Secondly, boot the PC from CD ROM, Delete the partitions and make fresh partitions for installation of the operating system. You may also add the hard disk of your PC to another PC (as slave) and delete all the partitions from the operating system and make fresh partitions. Place the hard back into your PC and proceed with installation.

Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya!

I have put new hard drive in - When booted up it says - Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key.

there can be two scenarios
1. the harddrive is not installed properly
2. the harddrive is not selected as the first boot device in the BIOS of the computer.

After you install new harddrive, you will have to reinstall the Operating System in the computer as well.

When i start it say Reboot and select proper boot device or intsert boot media in selected boot device

Most probably the cause is one of the following:

  • No OS installed.
  • Hard-drive connection is loose.
  • Windows is corrupt.
  • Harddrive jumper is not figured correctly (in case of IDE PATA) or it may have malfunctioned.
Disconnect the PC from the mains supply, remove the cover on the system and check for any loose cable connections of hard drive.
Check inside the BIOS whether the drive is listed and as the first boot device in Boot Order tab.

Note: During inspection take care to avoid touching any board component unnecessarily. Also avoid using force.

Motherboard will not read harddrive

You may have a defective data cable, or controller.

You may have a defective drive.

Try to find out if the drive is spinning at all while the computer is powered up. It helps to hold a screw driver up against the drive and place the handle to your ear.

If the drive is not spinning, or if you hear a repeated click, then your drive has unfortunately become defective.

Lastly, If your drive is PATA (Or the roughly 2 inch rectangular connector) you may also try switching the direction that the cable is plugged in. Place the side plugged into your system board into the drive and vice versa.

Also if PATA, examine your drive for its jumper setting values.

If SATA, assure that your SATA controller is turned on in the BIOS.

While powering up read the screen for the System Utility/System Setup key, generally the delete Key "DEL"

Press this key during power up

Once in the menu look for Integrated Peripherals, or related topics regarding Onboard Controllers, SATA, etc.. .Assure that your SATA controllers are enabled, and while there assure that your set to boot off that drive in the Boot Options

Any of these could be a possibilty, lastly address *********** board manual one last time just to be sure.

If this information has been helpful, please rate this solution.

Pc does not start

unplug the power supply the to let the capacitors on your board discharge , then rest the bios or de-attach the battery for a while
the put every thing back again.
if the problem still exists check wither you have a burnt capacitor on the mother.
if the problem still exists check the cpu (if it is too hot) it may be burnt out.
