If you touched the contacts with your fingers during the replacement, that could be the problem. Remove the cartridge and GENTLY wipe the contacts with a soft cloth (t-shirt material). Replace and see if that works.
If it doesn't work, then most likely the cartridge itself is faulty. It happens rarely, but it does happen.
There are also a small number of HP all-in-one machines that can develop a problem with the cartridges not staying seated. I'd need to know your machine model for that one.
