Use a 1/4 in nut and ring this is a very common connection. most lines will have the nut on the line .. some friges use a J Q connection on the valve and you will just have to push the line into the socket till it bottoms and your done. very simple . mm hotp this helps .. the water line pt # for your model is 218976409 and does use a 1/4 line connection and if your use this your will need a 1/4 in line coupler to connect from this line to your copper line . mm feed back pls ..

How do I turn off the water to my icemaker on Kenmore Model 253.7818480 Refrigerator?

If your fridg is plumbed like most, there's a valve under your kitchen sink that controls the water going to the fridg.

LG LFX21976ST refrigerator. Started the day with a full reservoir of ice, was using it heavily to keep some workers hydrated. The last time I tried to get ice, none came. Per the label inside the doo

The ice maker's water supply line may be frozen solid. Do not worry... take out your frozen groceries and dairy products, and let your friends store them for two days while your completely defrost your refrigerator. If you don't want to wait, try to locate a schematic (parts diagram) for your fridge and take a panel access cover off to get access to the copper tube of the water supply line inside. (Warning: this can be terminal to your fridge so don't attempt this without the exact parts diagram for your make and model.) Ensure you are heating the water pipe and NOT the refrigerant line; i.e., freon, ammonia, etc... Unplug your fridge and heat up the (water supply) copper pipe with a high wattage blow dryer... if you were a pro, I would recommend a heat gun. DO NOT USE A HAND TORCH as the soldered joint connections may come loose and it will leak afterwards. (The demand you placed on the ice maker caused the compressor to run almost continually for the ice maker assembly causing the copper pipe water supply pipe to freeze... it will take time to thaw it out by just unplugging it. In the future, when you know you need volumes of ice... make a little at a time each day and store it inside a separate ice cube container.) You may also want to check the activation lever above the ice cube container (bin) to make sure it moves freely against the switch contact. If the switch contact is jammed, it won't work. Good Luck

Plumbing in water supply to fridge.

if this is for ice maker this is how its done. run the line through the floor in back of fridge to a cold water pipe. closest to where fridge sits.
  • Turn off the cold water supply to the pipes.
  • Attach a pipe clamp to the cold water pipe.
  • Screw a packing nut into the cold water pipe. Turn the packing nut until it punctures and taps into the pipe. Attach ¼-inch copper tubing to the outlet valve on the packing nut using a compression nut. Make certain the valve is closed before you secure the packing nut.
  • Attach the copper tubing to the intake connection using a compression nut. to back of fridge,
  • Turn on the cold water supply.
  • Turn on the outlet valve on the packing nut.

  • the kit should have directions with it. good-day !

How to reassemble ice dispenser parts od kenmore model 106.5706*602

Clean out the new ice maker with warm soapy water.

Ensure that the floor surface under your refrigerator is level. If the floor surface under your refrigerator isn't level, you can place shims under the legs of the refrigerator to fix the uneven surface.

Turn off the main water supply to your house.

Clear the water line by running the faucets until the pipe clears.

Screw the copper supply line's connector to the house's cold water connector valve. Use an adjustable wrench to tighten the connection.

Slide the compression sleeve and nut onto the other end of the copper supply line. The compression sleeve and nut will wrap around the outside of the copper supply line.

Bend the copper supply line to fit into the water line inlet casing located on the back of the refrigerator. Leave slack in the line so that the refrigerator can be pulled away from the wall or cabinets. The water line inlet casing is a plastic bracket used to hold the copper supply line in place so that there is no pull on the tubing's connection. It is the larger of the two plastic brackets located on the back of the refrigerator.

Insert the compression sleeve located around the end of the copper supply line into the ice maker connector. The ice maker connector is already installed on the back of the Maytag refrigerator.

Tighten the nut over the connection between the compression sleeve on the copper supply line and the ice maker connector with an adjustable wrench.

Attach the water supply tube clamp to the water supply line by clipping it into place. The water supply tube clamp is a plastic bracket located on the back of the refrigerator that holds the supply tube so that it doesn't rattle and become disconnected. It is the smaller of the two brackets located on the back of the refrigerator.

Turn on the main water supply.

    Check all connections for leaks.

Position the drain hose located on the back of the ice maker over your floor drain. Use a PVC pipe if you need to redirect the drain hose flow so that it falls over the floor drain. The PVC pipe should not touch the drain hose and should have no low point where the water can settle.

Plug the ice maker into a 3-prong grounded outlet.

LG-P257STB fridge the ice maker does not make ice help

1st check to see if fill tube is frozen. If frozen you can use hair dryer carefully to melt the ice inside the tube. The tube is located up behind ice maker coming through back wall of fridge. If that is ok then you need to check the incoming solenoid usually found on the back where the water tube or pipe is connected to the fridge. Most appliance parts houses will have service manuals that will step you through these tests and many more..

How do I replace the water line in the door?

    Hello,

Find your route to the water line. Drill a hole in the floor behind the refrigerator and thread the copper tubing into the basement. Go to the basement and find the main water line and pull the copper tubing to it.

    Step 2
Attach pipe to refrigerator. Go back up to the kitchen and attach the end of the copper tubing to the water pipe of the refrigerator. You can use a nut and ferrule to connect the tube to the fridge. Make sure to leave a little bit of copper tubing coiled behind the fridge so as to not disconnect the tubing when moving the fridge.

    Step 3
Turn off the water. With the fridge all hooked up, go back to the basement and turn off the water. Find the cold water pipe and drill a 1/4-inch hole to accommodate the copper tubing.

    Step 4
Attach valve to pipe. You need to attach the water valve to the main pipe. This allows you to control the flow of water to the refrigerator. Make sure you have a gasket to seal between the valve and main water pipe.

    Step 5
Connect the copper tubing. With the valve connected to the main water pipe, connect the copper tubing using a clamp. This should be everything you need. Turn on the main water and you should be able to get a glass of water, but it will take an hour or two for the ice cubes to freeze.

    Take care..

    Copper waterline is broken

Hi .. there should be piping connectors at each end of the tubing. I would disconnect those connectors andtake them to the building supply store and get new fittings and a new supply hose. The new hose does not need to be copper,. you do not need to cut the existing fittings off the wall or the fridge, the new fittings, or new hose can connect directly to the old fittings. my tool of choice is a pair of crescent wrenches

    Ice maker won't make ice

The water valve has 2 solenoids one for water and another for ice. The water solenoid is connected to a larger hose than the icemaker solenoid. The water solenoid is working but the Ice maker solenoid might be dead. BUT the ice maker might not be calling for water. It is the ice maker that powers up the solenoid to fill the ice mold. At the end of harvest a tiny copper plate mounted behind the main drive gear rubs across a copper contact. To tweek the amount of water a small screw is mount at the 3 oclock position of the ice maker head.HERE are some repair tips and photos

Bad water & ice cube taste

    Hello redwood City
    Welcome

    You said,
Your Kitchenaid Superba KSRG25FKBL15 has bad tasting water and ice cubes. You replaced the copper tubing which delivers the water to the fridge and that didn't help. You replaced the copper tubing again with plastic tubing...no better. Any suggestions? Your tap water doesn't taste this bad.You bought a Kenmore french door fridge with water dispenser in the door in July 2008. The fridge has a filter. A few weeks after the fridge came the water and ice started tasting really bad, unlike any bad water taste I have ever tasted. And your tap water is fine. The bad taste appears to be random. Sometimes you get a cup full of nasty water and sometimes it tastes fine.

First you must know you have a 1 year warranty and can have them come out to fix anything, no charge. If it persists. You will have to get tough and you , MUST INSIST THEY REPLACE YOUR FRIDGE

When installing the water line these were a part of the directions!
Did you do this before connecting the water line to your fridge?
"Place the free end of the tubing in a container or sink, and
turn ON the main water supply. Flush the tubing until water is
clear. Turn OFF the shutoff valve on the water pipe. Coil the
    copper tubing."

    Whirlpool remedy
Off-taste, odor or gray color in the ice
1.Are the plumbing connections new, causing discolored or
off-flavored ice? Discard the first few batches of ice.
2.Have the ice cubes been stored too long? Throw old ice
away and make a new supply.
3.Does the freezer and ice storage bin need to be cleaned?
See “Cleaning” or “Ice Maker and Storage Bin.”
4.Has food in the freezer or refrigerator been wrapped
properly? Use airtight, moisture-proof packaging to help
prevent odor transfer to stored food.
5.Does the water contain minerals (such as sulfur)? A filter
may need to be installed to remove the minerals.
    6. Is there a water filter installed on the refrigerator? Gray or
dark discoloration in ice indicates that the water filtration
system needs additional flushing. Run additional water
through the water dispenser to flush the water filtration
system more thoroughly (at least 2 to 3 gal. [8 to 12 L] or 6 to
7 minutes initially). Discard discolored ice.

    Let me know what works,
    Thank You ,
    HUUUM!!
