Most likely problem is a worn thermocouple, these are consumable items that can last between 1 year to 6 years but will need changing at some point. Found this site very useful patio heater top repair tips.

SOURCE: Patio Heater pilot lights won't stay lit

crappy pilot flame (not properly heating the thermocouple), bad thermocouple, thermocouple loose where it screws into the pilot safety valve, bad safety valve magnet.

One or more of those is the problem.

Oh...there is also a saftey switch...in case it tips over. It will also cause the pilot to not stay lit (if the switch or wires that go to i are faulty)

SOURCE: Pilot goes out afeter a few minutes

I bet you have a dirty pilot assmbley which caused the thermocouple to go bad. Remove the assembley clean it well (including the small oriface inside the assembley). then install a new thermocouple (probably 12-15 dollars) this should solve your problem.

SOURCE: williams debonair wall heater + pilot light problems

THE flame from the pilot should shoot past the thermo-couple and heat this up and make a small amount of mili- amps to prove the pilot light is lit. ..So if the flame doesn,t go past the thermo-couple it won, make mili-amps or its tme to change out the thermo-couple, They only cost lest than $8:00 and you can change it!

Pilot light blew out by a fan..I turned the control off..How do I Ignite Please

First locate where to light pilot. You can do this by following thin aluminum colored tubing from control valve to inside heater. In general on top of your gas control valve is a knob. Turn indicator of this knob to pilot and depress knob. This will start gas flow to pilot at end of thin tube. Hold this knob in the depressed position and light pilot. DO NOT release knob for 30 -45 seconds. Then release knob and pilot will remain lit. Then turn knob to on position. If pilot will not stay lit you may need a new thermo coupler, which senses heat from flame to keep pilot gas flow open.
Good luck

Pilot lights only while depressing knob. Once knob is released to turn to on position the pilot goes out. Bad thermalpile?

It can take a up to a minute for the thermocouple to get hot enough to latch, the flame is to low, not in the position to hit the thermocouple or just bad. Some valves need to be turned to the ON position after lighting the pilot and waiting for the thermocouple to get hot. Sometimes the nut that holds the tube to the valve comes loose and requires being tightened but not to tight.

I accidently turned the pilot off and I can't get it to turn on Williams Model# 2001622

Turn the control valve to the PILOT position and push down and hold it in. Press the Ignitor Button and continue to hold the Control knob down, once the pilot lights. Wait one minute, release the Control Knob and if the pilot remains burning, turn the Control Knob counterclockwise to the ON Position. If after the burners light and burn for a few minutes, you can turn the Control Knob back (Clockwise) to the Pilot position (if you don't want the heater to come on automatically) and the pilot should remain lit.

Hope this helped to get you back up and burning.

I have a spark and gas coming through on my heater but it will not stay lit...I can light it with a lighter but again it will not stay lit...please help

The pilot assembly may be dirty (dust, lint, pet hair) or the Thermocouple has failed. The thermocouple is a safety feature that stops gas from coning out of the pilot, if the pilot suddenly goes out.

If you can disassemble the heater cabinet, you can access all of the inner workings. To clean the pilot assembly use canned compressed air with a straw nozzle (like you clean your computer with). Blow out the pilot tip and all down the pilot assembly. If you see a lot of dust inside the heater cabinet vacuum it out with a vacuum that has a hose and brush attachment. A crevice tool works well too.

After doing all of the above, reassemble the heater cabinet, and try lighting the pilot. Be sure the control knob is right in the pilot position, when you depress it to light the pilot. If it doesn't go all the way in and your don't feel strong pressure pushing back on it, it's not right in the pilot position. Turn it a hair one way and then the other, until you locate it exactly. Light the pilot as you normally would, hold the control knob in for one minute after it lights, then ease off of it slowly. In the Pilot stays lit, let it burn for a minute before turning it to the ON position. After that, you should be back in business.

If the pilot lights and fails to hold, the Thermocouple will need to be replaced.

How do you re-light pilot light

Turn the knob on the gas valve to the pilot position. Sometimes you have to slightly depress the knob to turn it..don't use a pair of pliers. In the pilot position.. push the knob in and light the pilot..keeping the knob pushed in for 30 seconds. Let go and the pilot should stay on. Turn the knob to the on position and set the thermostat.

Need to light pilot cozy brand gas wall heater

Is there a "Pilot" marking on the knob? Try moving the knob 1/2 way between on and off and depress the knob. If you are in the correct location, the knob should depress in about 3/8 of an inch. Once you find the location where you can depress the knob, there should be a red sparker button that you can snap to light the pilot. Depress the pilot knob and snap the button a few times. There may be a small viewing port at the pilot. It may be covered by a small metal shield held on by a thumb screw. You can remove the shield to view the flame. OK so now you can depress the pilot knob, snap the sparker, look for the flame while still holding down the pilot knob and count to 30. Slowly release the pilot knob and check to see if the pilot is still on. Once it stays lit, rotate the knob to the "ON" position.

Need to know how light pilot

First step turn the thermostat off. It is very important.
Next find the knob on top of the gas valve you will see writing on it turn it to pilot it could be in the off position so move it to pilot depress the knob where it goes down about one inch. Take a long lighter long match or something like that and hold at the pilot it will be back in the furnace by the front of the burners. Once the pilot lights hold the button for another 30 seconds. Release the knob now the pilot should be on and the next step is why you turned off the thermostat rotate the knob to on position. Go to the t-stat and turn on the heat.

On the gas valve, look for a marking that indicates "Pilot". If there is no such marking, you do not have a pilot and the system is electronic ignition. Ok so if you find the pilot position, you will be able to turn a know to that position and depress the knob into the gas valve. At the same time you are depressing the knob, look for a red button that snaps when you depress it. This is a Pizo starter. If you do not have this button, look for a viewing port where you can insert a long match. Once you have the knob depressed and the viewing port open if needed) you should be able to light the pilot with the snapper or match. Before you release the knob on the gas valve, sing "Yankee Doodle". This will give the flame enough time to heat up a probe to the proper temperature and the flame should stay on. Button up any port you opened and then turn the gas valve knob to the "On" position.
