SOURCE: Saw will not start Husqvarna 350
An engine needs three things to run(fuel and air mixed together in the correct proportions, compresion of the fuel/air mixture and ignition).Make carb adjustments, check the compression and the spark from the sparkplug.Priming the engine(put some gas into the sparkplug hole).Try to start the engine. If engine is running only the gas from the cilinder, the chain saw has a fuel delivery problem.Disassembly the carb and clean the inner parts.Check the fuel and air filters, fuel hose and gas tank ventil.

YES THE CARBURETOR CAN BE OVERHAULED
THE REPAIR KIT PART # IS 31840 , THE BOWL IS REMOVED BY REMOVING THE BRASS NUT ON THE BOTTOM WITH A 7/16" WRENCH.YOU MAY NEED TO REMOVE THE WELCH PLUGS FOR A GOOD CLEANING. NEW PLUGS COME WITH KIT. YOU CAN SOAK CARB. IN CLEANER SHOULD BE NO LONGER THAN 15 MINUTES. ALWAYS USE NEW GASKETS. ADJUSTMENTS TO BE DONE WHEN ENGINE IS WARMED UP.

check the belt tighteners to see if they are sticking at a certain point, and not putting enough pressure on the belts. The other thing might be that the belts are stretched to the point where they may not tighten any more. Belts that work fine when it's warm out are harder and won't grab the pulleys as well in the cold...especially if they've been glazed from long use.

SOURCE: Snowblower seems weak for a 5HP
Check to see if there any surface rust inside the auger assembly. This will cause this problem. Also, you try a silicone spray on a painted surface.

If it is a 5.5 HP dual stage, like mine, it could be that the belt has popped off the friction pulley. If you drain the gas, tip the unit on its "face" and remove the large shield on the bottom you will see a 3" pulley attached to the drive shaft. There will also be what looks like a fan belt floating around in there. That fan belt nees to go on the pullet, as it serves as the friction disk tio drive the wheels. Good luck. this happens to mine ALL the time. very frustrating. :(
