Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Changing the fan should not be a problem; it happens every so often if you pickup something big and the plastic fan breaks. The cost to repair is about $10.00 to $20.00 plus labor and you can repair it yourself if you are handy or take it to a local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area and they can perform the fan replacement. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Dirt devil easy lite. I vacuumed up a coin I think, the vacuum is now screaming.. How do I remove whatever it was that got vacuumed up?

The coin may have broken the fan. You will need to inspect it to see if the coin may have gotten stuck somewhere causing the noise. Inspect the fan for damage.

Nothing going into dirt canister

Is there suction at the hose? If not it is either blocked or the suction fan is broken. If there is, then there is a blockage in the pickup section, something is lodged across the channel after the brushes and before the place where the hose plugs in.

I think there is a safety switch to prevent it from running with the canister out so hard to check for suction at the top of the motor/suction fan. Make sure nothing is over that part under the canister too! If you can figure out how to bypass the safety switch (if there is one), you should have good suction where the canister sets on top of the motor base.

I have a Dirt Devil Jaguar bagless vacuum. It used to work great. Now, it is blowing a huge amount of dust out of the front of the machine as I try to vacuum the carpet. can this be remedied?

This generally happens if the hose system is clogged. No suction so the power head brush just kicks out the dirt and debris you're trying to pick up, and loose stuff that is currently in the hose system. If it has been doing this for quite a while, or has been used with blockage, the motor has to work harder and will eventually burn out, if there is no overheat shut of switch in the cleaner.
Check all parts of the hose system, from the power head to the tank. Clear all clogs. That should take care of the problem.
Another possibility is that the fan blades are broken or worn down. This would result in no suction even though the motor is running.

Dirt Devil R088100. Cloth Was Sucked Into Hole Below Dirt Holder

Brad, Hopefully it is the belt that you smell burning. I would start by removing the underneath side of the vacuum head. Normally just a few screws that are meant to be remove for general maintanence and circumstances such as this. After removing the screws this should reveal the dirty side of life to you. You may need to remove the roller brush, and inspect the ends to make sure the brush rolls freely while holding the ends. If not the ends may need to be cleaned of hair and strings: ends should pop of and a shaft runs through the middle connecting them. Clean and replace. Move on up the path the dirt travels. The neck where the head and vacuum come together is the next jamming point, if this is where the cloth is lodged chances are the motor may have over heated due to clogging. Your vacuum may have a automatic shut off. You will need to contact Dirt Devil to see if there is a reset for the motor. There are propellers / fan blades at the end of the neck just before the motor housing. This is most likely where the clothe has logged itself causing the brushes on the electric motor to emit the burning smell, if you can remove all obstructions and the unit still does not turn on, check with dirt devil about the reset, Hope this helps.

The fan motor is probably not working. Does it sound normal? Higher or lower pitch sound?
