Kitchenaid says to run the machine on 'high' long enough to heat the gearbox well and then turn the machine upside down and let it cool.

What happens is when you don't use your mixer a lot the grease in the gearbox will separate into oil and thicker grease. Warming it and turning it upside down is supposed to mix all the grease together again and allow it to flow to the top of the gearbox.

Give it a try, check back if you get no satisfaction and we'll get you started on changing your grease.

Is there place on the ksm90ac mixer to add oil

No there isn't, the oil that's leaking out is the liquid that makes up part of the grease that's in your gearbox. Grease is solids and oil combined, over time the mixture breaks down and releases the oil. A proper fix if you wish to do it is to dismantle the machine, clean out the old grease and replace it with new. The oil that's leaking is harmless as it is special food grade grease in there. If you choose to replace the grease you should be buying and using KitchenAid food grade grease. A KitchenAid service agent will have the grease and be able to do the job for you.

Why is my kitchenaid mixer is leaking oil

It is the grease breaking down inside the gearbox, it is food grade grease so the oil is harmless.

Kitchenaid leaking oil

Remove the chrome drip ring that covers the outer planetary, clean it out, wipe as much oil away as possible, put the drip ring back on and carry on using it. Eventually you will need to completely dismantle the gearbox and clean out & change the grease. It's not the sort of job to look forward to. The old grease slowly breaks down over time and the oil is separating out from the grease solids. It is special food grade grease so completely harmless.

Leaking oil

There are only two places where Food Grade Grease is used: In the
Transmission Housing (normally installed with a gasket) and in the Planetary
Assembly (Agitator gear). Over times, the grease will get hot and turn into liquid.
The Beater shaft has an O-ring to prevent oil from leaking down, but there is
nothing to prevent oil from the Planetary from making its way down your mix.
Depending which model you have, it's time to open up your mixer, clean out
all the oil and replace it with fresh Kitchenaid Food Grade Grease.

Brown oily substance is leaking out of the mixer

It's the gear lubricant. It's food grade so no panic of contaminated food required. When it is all done leaking you may need to buy a new mixer or order a repair kit and open it up before the gears get ruined. - good luck- Ned-

Oil Leak

There are screws under that metallic ring on the mixer head. Gently remove the metalic ring by pushing down on its edge with a screwdriver. Once the ring is removed the screws are exposed. Tighten each one and then again to make sure they are snug. If this doesn't work, you need a new grease gasket. Good luck.

KitchenAid wobbles when mixing

The "wobbling" sounds like an issue of beater to bowl adjustment, which can come out of alignment naturally over time and with use of the machine.

If the flat beater is striking the bottom of your bowl, this may cause the locking mechanism to loosen and may cause the mixing head to "bounce" during use.

Your Use and Care Guide will cover the "beater to bowl adjustment," which you can do at home in a few minutes with a flathead screwdriver.

Also, leaking of oil in a stand mixer is not necessarily indicative of a large problem.

Kitchenaid stand mixers are overpacked with oil to last the lifetime of the motor. If the motor sits idle for some time (is not used), the oil may begin to drip from the gears and settle. Oil leakage may primarily be seen from around the beater shaft or planetary action.

A stand mixer can lose up to a 1/4 cup of oil before it needs to be serviced.

It is recommended to run the mixer on speed 10 for 2 minutes in order to redistribute oil back into the motor. In order to prevent future occurences, this is recommended to be done every 3 weeks if mixer is not being used.

KitchenAid stand mixer is leaking alot of oil

ok, there are 4 skrews holding the body together on its white underside( or what ever color you have.) after you get those there are like 9 or 10 little skrews under a shiny rig that goes around the shaft that does all the work in the bowl. pull the ring off and take out those skrews. after that... well i have to find out for myself how to fix the oil leak! good luck and if you find out let me know! BTW here is a link to the service manual.

There is an adjustment screw and a system for setting it. You can find a video of it here (or just a ton of people who know all about these mixers). I just found it while trying to troubleshoot the same problem for my wifes mixer.
