SOURCE: wire size

I used to know all this stuff, the hardware store has a gauge guide to show you the correct size, i would guess that 8 would be ok, 10 would probably do it, hope this is right.

SOURCE: i have a new ingersol

Your owners manual spec sheet should give you that answer. However since that unit at max loads should pull 32 to 35 amps I recommend 1.5 times max amps. So approximately a 50 amp breaker. This all based on standard wire size and length of wire run. Also when checking your voltage at load you should be showing 235 to 240 volts.

SOURCE: what weight of lubrication do i use for this

Yes it is always a good practice to bleed the tank down. there is a check valve in the top of the receiver tank that keeps air from blowing back Thur the system. However if it's leaking you will have pressure on the oil sump. As for type of oil use a 30 weight non detergent oil. Recommend using ir's t30 all season or another type made for air compressor's.

SOURCE: What size breaker do I

Look at the motor tag. It should give you the run amps which I believe is about 22. What ever your amps are on the tag multiply by 1.5. If it comes up like my example (11 + 22 = 33) go to the next available size. Like 35 or 40. This should size the breaker to get the unit through start up.

Can't get it to come on when it's cold.

Warm it up with a heat lamp, hair dryer etc. Release all air pressure from the tank first. Check your oil and use only compressor oil.

I have a ingersoll rand 30, srats for 20seconds then trips breaker,,,runs great when running

Sounds like the unit is pulling to many amps during start up. Possibilities are: breaker under sized, wire under sized, to long of a run of wire from breaker for wire size,Tank check valve bad. I would check the amps during start up and while running and compare to motor name plate information. Remember at start up the motor may pull 1.5 to 2 times the rated amps on the name plate. Also if this unit has a magnetic starter wire connections may be loose or overloads to small.

Which direction should my compressor motor be turning when looking at it from the shaft or pulley side side?

Easy to tell which direction motor should turn. Look at the flywheel of the pump it will have an arrow showing direction. Secondly, the pump has fins that need to turn in direction to blow air onto pump. Good luck
