Some reasons for this may be the Memory card is full, locked, or not inserted,or

Flash is charging.

Camera is not in focus.

CPU lens with aperture ring attached without locking aperture

at highest f-number.
Non-CPU lens is attached: rotate camera mode dial to D

hope this helps.

I also own a D60 and have problems with it since it was new. My camera has between a 30-40% failure rate for taking photos. This means that after a half press of the shutter release it can't take a picture. On 20% of the photos I am getting digital rain. This means you can barely see your image and the photos has a number of coloured lines raining down. I have brought the camera in twice to Nikon for service and within a couple of months the camera is not performing well at all. I am heading back for the third service call and I believe they said there is a problem with the metering sensor. I will repost when I get the next line of excuses. I believe that the new D60 I bought is a complete and utter LEMON!

The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

Nikon d60 will not take picture

The Nikon D-90 users manual says on page 256 that the ERR message indicates a camera malfunction and that it can be cleared by releasing the shutter.

I've found on my D-90 that the only way I can get the shutter to release is my turning the camera off. When I turn it back on the ERR message is gone and the camera functions as it should.

Occasionally, I have had to remove and reinstall the battery to make the camera turn off but this happens only rarely.

The users manual says if the condition occurs frequently or persists that you should contact a Nikon authorized repair center. I suggest that you contact Nikon tech support at www.nikon.com to see what they suggest. I think this information would apply to the D-60 as well.

Pictures were protected for a temporary photo shoot now I would like to have them unprotected to delete. How does one go about deleting pictures from a Nikon D60?

To unprotect a picture, while viewing the picture press the protect button (marked with a key) to the right of the viewfinder. To delete the picture, press the delete button (marked with a trashcan) below the multiselector.

Nikon D60 "Press shutter release button again". Camera "stuck" and not working.

Remove the battery and let the camera sit for a few minutes. Reinsert the battery and turn the camera on. If the error persists, then consult with a Nikon-authorized service representative.

Nikon d60 - error. turn camera off and on again.

Locate the button behind the shutter release button with the green dot next to it. Locate the button at the back lower hand side of the D60 with the green dot next to it. Press both buttons at the same time.........This resets the D60 to its original settings and should resolve the problem.....
