Smoke coming out of tv, and bad, burning plastic smell

The picture is a bit 'stretched' out, and sometime screeen 'quivers' or 'flickers'. This has been happening for some months, but yesterday, the tv was on for several hours, and by afternoon, we smelled a horrible, plastic burning smell, and saw light smoke coming out from the top of the tv somewhere. We unplugged it, and have done nothing since.

Try to open the back cover of your tv but be sure to unplug it, then try to look for a bulge up capacitor beside the flyback transformer. if you see this capacitor try to replace it with the same value. feel free to send feed back good day and best regards.

Smoke and burning plastic smell in microwave oven

Burning plastic, not food? A component has overheated badly then, with a plastic case. The main suspect would be the high voltage capacitor in the magnetron supply. This is cheap and easily replaced ONLY IF you know what you are doing and can diagnose the fault. If you don't then DO NOT take the case off the unit as fatal voltages can be present inside even if the unit is unplugged.

I'd just buy another, as they are generally uneconomical to have repaired by a service tech.

I have 1993acura legend that overheats white smoke out tailpipe ....when starting warm engine put puts to an idle..sometimes dies..and no power...trani slips out of gear when coming to a stop

Jesse, I would stop driving it immediately until you figure out the problem. Does the smoke have a blue hue to it? If so you're probably burning a bit of oil which means you probably have one or more worn out engine components such as valve guides or piston rings.
If the smoke is think and white, take a good smell of it. Does it smell sweet(Relative to other car smells)? This means you're burning coolant. If this is the case, you probably have a blown cylinder head gasket or it could be as bad as a cracked cylinder or block.
Either way, continuing to drive if any of these is the problem will cause even more damage to your car. Running in these conditions will begin to foul your spark plugs which is probably why you're starting to see it dying.

My mazda 626 has a strong potent smell coming from the exhaust

You don't mention what that smell is reminiscent of?

You don't mention the colour of the "smoke" and you didn't say whether the engine is petrol or diesel?

You don't mention whether the road behaviour/performance is normal?

White smoke is almost always steam or in the case of a diesel it could be an unburned fuel mist, grey/black is excess fuel and blue or grey/blue is burning oil.

Some steam is fairly normal until the engine and exhaust system is hot but excessive amounts could be one symptom of head gasket trouble. If the engine is drinking coolant and sending it through the exhaust as steam it will sometimes smell spicy.

Burning oil smells a bit like burned eggs in the frying pan.

If the car hasn't ultra-low sulphur oil and fuel the catalytic converter will convert sulphur traces into hydrogen sulphide - the bad egg gas...

Why is there smoke?

Kindly switch off the TV, switch off power, and remove plug. The TV needs servicing by a qualified service technician.

Smell of Burning Plastic

you could have a short in the wire harness that runs up your steering column. i would check under the dash for worn, frayed or burnt wires immediately. you have a great potential for an electrical fire. good luck. please rate this solution
