Question about Kenmore 55612 / 55614 / 5561 / 655619 Side by Side Refrigerator

Open Question

Ice maker isn't working. Kenmore model 106.56662500 side by side. We think it is frozen up and have been told to use a hair dryer but should we try it at the ice trays or take the back plate off and maybe a fan motor is back there that maybe is frozen up. The freezer works perfectly though.

SOURCE: ICE MAKER NOT WORKING

Check to make sure you freezer is at 0 to 5 degrees. If it is not the water valve to the ice maker will not even open.

Kenmore Coldspot side by side ice maker not working, red lite bliking

Often I find your ice maker on the Kenmore side by side thefill tube frozen. The fill tube is ablack rubber hose located above and to the right of your ice maker. Simplypinch the tube to see if it frozen solid. If it is, use a hair dryer set onmedium to defrost the fill line. http://www.on-timeappliance.com/kenmorerefrigeratorrepairdallastx.html

The water feed to the ice maker is frozen - I can see that it is plugged with frozen water. I was able to get the frozen water out of the chute that leads to the ice maker but I can still see the ice...

Hi,

This usually means the water inlet valve that feeds the ice maker is bad. It can bypass a small amount of water and that water runs so slow that it freezes in the tube you are clearing.

The valve I am talking about is behind the frig on the bottom, it should be blue in color.

To clear the ice from the tube use hot water and a turkey baster, or a hair dryer.

The part number for the water valve is 4389177

Ice maker was frozen & we used a hair dryer to defrost and now it

If there were ice cubes in the ice machine and it was doing nothing, then the ice maker is bad and you will need a replacement. This happens unfortunately. It is nothing that you did with the hair dryer tho. If I have misunderstood the problem I will gladly help further pending more information :) gl!

My ice maker isnt making ice. i think i need a new filter. could that cause this.

Hello, my Kenmore was also not making ice about 2 years ago, but everything else worked. It seemed that the tube directly inside the freezer where it was filling the ice trays was frozen. My husband used a hair dryer to unthaw the tube. It's been working every since. Also, my sister had a Kenmore Elite, with the same problem but her husband didn't know what the cause. So they also tried the hair dryer, and now it works fine.

Thanks

I used a hair dryer for about 5 minutes. It took a while to verify because a tray of ice had to fill and freeze before I knew my problem was fixed. No repairman!!!

Kenmore Refrigerator model 363.9565512

Hello, Check the water fill tube to see if it may be frozen. It's a tube about 3/8" wide that hangs over the tray. Squeeze the tube and if it is hard, it"s frozen, if it is soft, you have another problem. If it's hard, take a hair dryer and thaw out the tube and you ice maker should be fixed.
I hope this helps.

Kenmore Side by Side Refrigerator Ice Maker Not Working

A couple things to check here. First see if there is ice in the tray. If so chances are the ice maker will need to be replaced however these are very reliable ice makers. If no ice in the tray pull up on the ejector blade (don't worry you won't break it) turn clockwise to start the ice maker thru a cycle. The ejector blade is the long white bar with fingers on it that run the length of the tray. Once it completes a cycle it should fill with water. If no water then either the fill tube is frozen over and will need to be defrosted or the water valve is bad.
