Question about DISH Network DVR-625 DTV Receiver / 100-Hours Video Recorder

1 Answer

I have a 625 dual tuner from Dish. When I do a check switch it shows that I have signals on both satellites on tuner 1 but tuner 2 has none. When I disconnect the cables from the receiver and reconnect them in reverse, that is tuner 1 is connected to tuner 2's connection and tuner 2 is connected to tuner 1's, it shows that tuner 2 has signals from both satellites and tuner 1 has no signal.

I have the separator and the 2 cables on the receiver going to the separator, and the cable coming from the satellite. My question is how is it that I can hook the cables to the separator normally and I have only signal on input 1 not input 2. But when I reverse them the signal is on both satellites on input 2 not input 1. Seems to me the separator isn't doing it's job correctly. I talked to a dish tech today and he suggested getting a diplexer. I looked up what a diplexer is and it seems to be a separator with the ability to also separate satellite signals from rooftop signals. I can't use that if the part that separates the 2 satellite signals is a separator. I have 2 separators and still have this problem.

Hi, Mary with Dish Network Customer Service, I will be happy to assist with this. This receiver needs to have a Separator (splitter) that has one coax cable coming from the Satellite into the single side and then two cables out, which connect to the receiver box. The Separator is marked with a SAT1 & SAT2. They will connect up to SAT1 & SAT2 on the receiver box itself. If you are using a different typr splitter, it is probably not rated for the splitting of the Satellite feed. I hope this helps you, if not feel free to contact me.

Yes, the separator is not working properly. You definitely do not need a diplexer. The separator you need has to have a specific rating for Sat1 output

Receiver lost signal, cannot aquair

It sounds like the dish may be mis-pointed since it's not recognizing all the satellites. The next step for this would be to send a technician out to get everything fixed.

If you would like any assistance setting up a technician, just send me an email at thomas.faust@dish.com and I would be happy to help.

Dish network error 004

Hi there, Tim!

It's possible the dish may need to be repointed. Try running a check switch test. Go to Menu > System Setup (6) > Installation (1) > Point Dish (1) > Check Switch > Test. This will provide more info on the satellite signal.

If you have run that test and the problem continues I would need to see about getting a tech out. If so, you can send me an email at thomas.faust@dish.com for further assistance!

Hello, this Luke. Hooking the 508 to any TV is just like hooking a DVD to TV. Just used whichever cable available to you. e.g. RCA, coax. But if you want to have Satellite programming to that receiver, that would be a different thing. You will have to call Dish to add that receiver to your account with them. They will verify that receiver if it is registered to an account with debt and add it to your account if it is clear. They might need to send an installer to hook it up. Let me know if this help.

5shades690,

Are you still having problems with your TV 2 off the 625 receiver? You have a cable off the back of the receiver, TV 2 Home Distribution. That's feeding to your TV 2 location. You might check to make sure it is secure. You can also see if that cable screws into a diplexer if it is being back feed through the satellite cables. These are all potential problem spots, especially since you said it was working before. I hope this helps.

Does not allow me to record a live tv showit says: error: unable to aquire program guide information what can i do to record it?

Guest,

Are you still having problems recording live TV shows? You can try unplugging the receiver from the power outlet for 10 seconds and plug back in. This will make the receiver reboot and then acquire satellite signal. Once the acquisition is complete, a program guide download will take place. Allow the download and see if the receiver will allow you to record.

If it doesn't, then run a check switch test. Press your menu button to bring up the main menu. Press 6, 1, and 1 on the remote which will take you to the Point Dish screen. Upper right hand corner of TV screen is a button, "Check Switch". Maneuver to that button and select. You will now be at the "Installation Summary" screen. At the bottom of screen, select "Test" button. Allow the test to run. After completing, it will automatically take you back to installation summary screen. Check for any errors windows. Exit completely out of all menus till you are back to "Acquiring Satellite Signal". Allow program guide download after acquisition, then check if you can record.

I hope this helps.

HOW TO HOOK UP TWO SATELLITE RECIVERS THAT I HAVE LIKE MODEL 4000 DISHJNETWORK RECIVER I FOUND IN MY CLOSET AND MY NEW DISH NETWORK RENTED DVR 625 RECIVER HOW TOO HOOK BOTH OF THEM UP TO THE 3 CABLES AND...

Ok since you have A 625 it uses different technology than the 4000 in a sense but I will assume that whomever connected the 625 use a Dish Pro Plus LNB. You can verify this by going out to the dish and looking at the LNB which is the eyes if you will on the dish. The cover facing you will read DP Plus, or Dish Pro, Dish Network, or you may have nothing at all on the housing. You will want it to say DP Plus for the easiest install.
On this LNB there are three ports. You will only need the two on the left if looking at it so you can not read the housing. One of the ports will be connected to a line running to the 625 and the other to the 4000. The line going to the 4000 should not contain any breaks in it after the ground block if one was used. Once inside the house connect the line from the lnb for the 4000 to the back of the receiver. Conect the receiver to the TV and run a check switch. This receiver will go into a test of 1 of 38 if all connections are good. A 1 of 50 indicates a loss of signal somewher on that side of the install.

The 625 can utilize di plexers but that type of install is to detailed to go into straight away so we will connect it using a straight feed to TV2. Run the cable from the LNB into th room with the 625. Inside connect that line to a siver device called a seperator that came with the receiver and connect the two leads from it to the sat in ports on the back of the receiver. Connect a line to the Home distribution port on the back of the receiver and run it to the room with the second tv you want to have DVR in such as a mater bedroom etc.Connect the cable from the tv out port on the receiver to the tv. Power all devices on and run a check switch. This test should read 1 of 3 if all connections are good. A bad connection will read 1 of 38 on the receiver. A total absence of signal will stay at 1 of 1 for a longt ime brfore going to 1 of 38.

You will need to call dish and activate the 4000 rx since it has not been on the account for some time and will need a software update that they will send to it via satellite.

Other obstacles could arise and if they do let me know. Thanks for using Fix Ya.
