Hi, its probably the thermal breaker under the shifter. simply remove the screw on the aft side of the shifter holding it in and slide it forward and out of the way. the thermal breaker is the metal fuse looking thing, pry it out and replace it with a 40 amp fuse if you can find it. if you cant, i usually bypass it all together. dont worry about a short, the battery has a 30 amp fuse on it under the blue cover/handle. those are prone to blowing under heavy loads, like 2 kids or more on it and going up hill in the grass, blows everytime. the breaker resets after a few seconds unless it has gone bad.

How long do you charge battery on child 4x2 12 Volt gator

What battery charger are you using and is it the battery it came with or a different one. Also is it a new battery is it drained or does it still have a good charge. All those things are factors. I have something similar and when the kids have drained the batter so that it wont move anymore then I have it charging for probably around 20 hours with the charger I use. I have a trickle charger and battery maintainer so it will charge it to full then turn off until it drains sufficiently to charge again, therefore maintaining the charge. If you dont have a battery maintainer I would suggest getting one your batteries will last longer and you can leave it on the battery for how ever long you want without worrying about it ruining the battery

the battery is behind the front grille, you have to remove the screw in the middle and then pull out on the green plastic clips on each side then fold down

We purchased a 12 volt John Deere Gator 4x2 used and charged the battery for 24 hours; when we plug it in to the car the car doesn't go, but if you move the gear it does make a sound like it wants to go....

first of all check for at least 12 volts from the battery and the charger, you can test this using a multimeter, if the battery doesn't show any volts, lift up one side of the blue plastic housing on the top and verify that both the positive and negative wires are plugged in

Want to locate the batteries for the John Deer 4X2 toy truck

You should be able to buy the battery at any auto parts store.
Call First!
There should be a trap door somewhere on the topside that will need to be unscrewed or pry-ed open.
Make sure you take the old battery to the auto parts store and have them test it to make sure that's the problem!
Often the metal drive and mechanisms on these toy trucks and cars gets rusted and is misdiagnosed as a battery problem in which case I would buy a couple of cans of WD40 lubricant or equivalent and spray on all the metal you can access then manually turn the wheels as much as possible!

Old john deere gator and battery new charger still will not move

Could be several things.  Your battery could be bad. After not being charged for a while, they do go bad- often. You may want to try a new battery along with your new charger.  You could also have a switch /connection problem. If you get a new battery and it still doesnt work, you may want to check the switches and wiring. It is not uncommon for the switch to go bad especially if it had been stored outside.
