This keeps happening to me too. Solution :The fabric softner cap has two bevels on the side if you place something in it the fabric softner top will come off. Under the that cap there is a bolt, losen the bolt and the agitator pulls up. Hope this helps, my problem is that the agitator moves back and forth while spinning and causes the close to get stuck. I don't know what is wrong if you can help let me know.

you either have a bad motor or a piece of clothing is stuck between the tubs, open the lid and see if the tub will spin,if not clothes got down between the tubs.also check the wires down near the motor, sometimes the snap inside the casing from the tub going off balance,if there is a piece of clothing stuck between the tubs you pop off the top plastic part on the tub but first you have to get the top of washer off to do this, usually the clothing will be in the back right side, the metal might be sharp on the tub,i use a coat hanger to hook the clothing and pull it out, good luck and hope this helps,go here to see error codes.
My washer ruined 2 king sheets 3 shirts and brand new jogging suit, so I know what you mean! The rubber gasket ...it had 2 metal bands..one on the inside which is a wide one and a small thin one on the outside of the gasket. You really can't see the wide one unless it has started to slipped off or break. or by taking the ting one off,..my wide band came loose which caused the screw to be exposed just enough for something to catch on it, tearing the material, it kept wrapping around and around untili eventually the band came completely off. I hope this helps.
Hi Bob: The center of the arm screws out, is it the top or the bottom? I have a Maytag as well, once you unscrew the center piece the arm shoul come off, there will be a clip in the center, all you do is depress the tabs along the side and pull out. The bottom is similar as well. I hope this helps.
there is a bolt under the fabric softner dispenser (if you have one) if not, its a plastic cap on the top of your agitator which pops off by hand or a butter knife.. then there is a bolt under there that holds the unit down..grap the bottom of your agitator and loosen the bolt and remove it...then lift up carefully on the whole thing..careful not to loose the seal and bolt to put the agitator back in place....good luck..
Have you checked the agitator? There may be sharp edges on the agitator blades. OR the towels may be getting stuck under the agitator and tub bottom. The agitator is supposed to suck the clothing down in the center and forcibly throw the clothing outwards against the tub. The cycle then repeats.
Maybe that a sock or other piece of clothing get between the clothes tub and the outer tub. Open washer's main access panel and remove the large-diameter rubber hose that connects the pump to the bottom of the outer tub. Then, try to remove the clothing through the port. keep a rag nearby to dry up spillage of water when removing the rubber host.
Good luck !!
