Question about Canon PIXMA iP1800 InkJet Photo Printer

1 Answer

The ink cartridge that was in my Canon Pixma iP1800 printer suddenly got an error message saying it was not properly installed. It had been in place for months. I ordered a new cartridge. It didn't work either. I removed the drivers and reinstalled them and rebooted. It's still not working. Any idea how to clean the contacts properly or anything else that might work?

I will try a printer reset.
Remove both cartridges and close cover.
Unplug printer from electrical outlet and wait at least 10 minutes.
The wait time will let the printer to fully cleared memory and
also to cool down if printer was overheating.
Plug printer back in and turn on printer.
Wait for printer to stop.
Install both cartridges.

Just bought black ink and its say the ink cartiridge isnt installed properly

Most of the time I have seen this issue because the safety strip has not been fully removed from the bottom of the cartridge, or the cartridge is not fully snapped into place. check the bottom of the new cartridge for any blockage or safety strip remains and the snap it back into place.

I have a problem with my canon ip1880,, an error message appears and it say "the following ink cartridge cannot be recognized. Printing cannot be executed because the ink cartridge may not be installed...

It could be a defective cartridge, or the contacts are broken on the carriage assembly. Either way, the Canon warranty is for one year and should be repaired at no charge.

Ink cartridge (not) installed properly

For the Canon iP1800 printer are you sure you're using the 30 for black and 31 for color?

And make sure they "click" when installed. That should confirm that they're nice and tight in their ink compartments.

Besides that, maybe reinstalling the printer drivers could do something?
