Quit working

1st try plugging it into a different outlet to make sure the problem is not in the outlet. Then if it still has no power, you should open the unit and follow the power cord to the transformer area. Many microwave ovens have a fuse somewhere near the transformer, but some do not. You didn't say what model or brand you have, so I can't say if yours has a fuse or not. Therefore, you just have to check and see. If it has a fuse and it's blown, repalce it. If it doesn't, you could use a volt meter to see if you have voltage going in or coming out of the transformer...CAUTION: If you are sure how to use a volt meter correctly, only check for a blown fuse and leave the rest alone.. wouldn't want you to get electricuted.

I have a brand new Avanti 1000 watt microwave. (New, out of the box). It won't heat. It makes noise like it's working, but there is no heat generated.

Take the lid off and on the side were all the components are located you could see a large transformer mounted on the bottom look at where the wires get plugged in one may not be in and hanging lose or the fuse in a white like casing come from transformer to the capacitor is blown

Hi, I stupidly turned on my brand new Francis X7 machine without using a transformer (I bought it from the US, used it in Malaysia), and of course, something blew, and it now doesn't work at all. Any...

The machine is made to work with 120 volts and you have plugged this on a 220 volt mains circuit thereby blowing up the fuse, or the power circuit, possible heater and the main controller unit board.
A step down transformer was needed to work this unit safely . Now unless the unit is opened the damage cannot be confirmed but if you are lucky the fuse would ahve blown and saved the rest. if so test it with a new fuse using a 220 to 120 volt convertor.( transformer with good rating)

I have a Samsung microwave model SMH7177STE/BE. Will only heat a few minutes before and shut off, now there is no heat. I am a licensed elect. but no experience with microwaves and having difficulty...

Its tripping a high limit most likely. Be careful there is 2100 to 4000 volt high side with a capacitor if its not an inverter. The standard components consist of noise board, fuse, touch panel and power controller, high limits, door switches, whipper motor, fan, transformer, capacitor, transformer, magnetron, diode, plate rotator.
Discharge cap (for safety and further testing).. Test fuse; if fuse tests blown test door switches first. Test limits. Check amp draw with slow blow fuse; open door to stop unit and again discharge capacitor. Test resistance to ground on whipper, fan, magnetron, light. Test resistance lead to lead (measurable on motors/coils/magnetron). Test capacitor in ferrads, compare to spec on print. Check diode forward and reverse. Test output voltage from power control board to transformer. Test transformer coils.
Best of luck and play safe; dont test voltage output from the transformer, voltage at capacitor or magnetron.

Danby 1000 Watt Microwave is completely dead. Just stopped working right after heating up a dinner.

you may have just blown a fuse inside the microwave or the transformer inside has now failed and will need replacing but it will need to be looked at to see what exactly happened

there are 2 fuses inmicrowave 1 for ac input 1 for high voltage transformer that will trigger the magnetron "for heating"

remedy;
uncrew the unit
replace fuse near the transformer this fuse.. usually enclose with plastic casing..
then test..

causes of blown fuse
