Question about Samsung Refrigerators

I have a Samsung RFG295AARS refrigerator and it will not make ice anymore. The ice off feature is not on and it seems like no water is filling the ice tray. The water function still works fine. Is there a way to figure out what might be wrong before getting a repair man? Thank You, Rick Stout

Of course there is you should be able to repair this yourself actually first thing to do is assure that water is going to the cube water tray you can do this by putting a small powered jumper wire to the side of the water valve that is in the rear usually the right and then you will see the water travel up the line and into the ice cube water trayif you have the water going to the tray the next check would if you have no water going up through this line then you would have to replace the water valve i would suggest buying your new valve at www.marcone.com under contact us there is a 1800 number make sure you have your model number handy if you have any further questions please message me back and please remember to rank how this opinion has helped in your appliance situation when this chat has concluded Thanks again

I would suggest that the ice bucket has water around the base and that has frozen the bucket bin place . If you can, try filling the bucket with hot water to loosen the ice around the base.

Hi,
Follow the steps mentioned below to solve the problem:
First remove the ice bin and look inside the mold of the ice maker to see if it is full of ice. If the ice sensing arm is down ( on position) and the ice maker is full of ice, there is a failure inside the ice maker and the ice maker should be replaced.
If there is no ice in the ice maker, look at the fill tube on the rear of the ice maker. If the fill tube is frozen up the ice maker can't fill.
You can defrost the fill tube with a hair dryer.
The water valve on the rear of the refrigerator supplies water to the water dispenser and the ice maker. Since the water dispenser is working, the only line that could be blocked runs up the back of the cabinet and attaches to the fill tube for the ice maker. The water valve could be bad and not sending water to the ice maker.
If the fill tube freezes again you should replace the water valve.

I can get water from my samsung side by side fridge, however water seems to have stopped filling up the ice cube maker?


a likely reason is the icemaker water pipe has frozen.this can be solved by defrosting the appliance

I set the ice maker feature to make cubes with my samsung refrigerator rs2555sw. But the ice maker makes a ice chunk. All the cubes are frozen together with a flat and thick layer of ice on top..


Hi and welcome to Fixya.

Remove the front cover after the ice tray has dumped cubes and remove all of the water from your ice maker tray.

Then depress the test button on the bottom of the icemaker (in front on bottom) located about 1 inch from the lower rh corner.

The icemaker fill cycle should add just enough water to cover barely cover the tray. (see page 32 of the 25 Sept 2005 user's manual)

If it is overfilling the icemaker fill time / water level needs to be reduced on the ice maker module. A normal fill cycle is about 7.5 seconds.

Another thing that will cause larger cubes is high water supply (utility co) pressure.

A temporary fix would be to slowly close the refridgerator water supply line's shut off vavle so that the water flow restricts.

The real solution is to investigate ice maker fill time, and the function of the icemaker water supply solenoid vavle for possible Delayed closing of the internal diaphram.

No water going into ice box of icemaker. Motor seems to be working ok. Checked hose not snagged.


Most times that will be the water control valve on the rear of refrigerator and most times they come as a pair or dual one side for water dispenser and other side for the ice maker. You can test to see if the ice maker is defective by turning switch on and fill with tap water. When it freezes and dumps but no water refills the ice maker then the valve for the ice maker side is defective and will need to be replaced as a pair. If you fill ice maker with water and it freezes and then does not dump then most likely the ice maker is defective.Thnks Sea Breeze

Ice maker is not working anymore. Water doesn't fill the tub. Water dispenser out of the door is still working

Put some water in the ice maker and see if it will kick a batch out. If it does make a batch but does not make any more then replace the water valve. NOTE: the water valve is a dual purpose valve that supplys water in the door and supplys the ice maker. If the ice maker does not kick out a batch then something is wrong with the ice maker.One easy component to replace is the ice mold thermostat.

Ice maker doesn't make ice anymore


Here is a solution I came up with. Pour water into the ice tray by hand and you have ice! Just a little humor for you all. I still haven't fixed mine.

No water to ice maker


check the inlet valve is working in the rear of the unit, other wise the fill tube may be frozen up, try to defrost. Regards Advisor
