My ps3 turned off during a game, when you try and turn it on the light on the power switch goes green for about 3 seconds then switches off again and has a red flashing light

Your PS3's problems are actually being caused by a connection error between the hard drive and motherboard. Without a correctly working hard drive connection your PS3 is unable to function and goes into shutdown mode, with the flashing red light warning.

So in order to fix the blinking red light on your PS3 you will need to repair the connection between the HDD and the motherboard. There is actually a rather simple way that you can do this yourself; while your PS3 console is switched off, locate the hard drive enclosure on the end of your console. Remove the plastic cover plate, then using a screwdriver unscrew the hard drive itself from its socket. Carefully remove it completely, then put it back in again. Tighten the holding screw, then restart your PS3

Corropted hard drive

1. First you unplug the ps3 from the mains then plug it back in. 2. Make sure the light is red then hold it down until it beeps twice. 3. Then after that the ps3 should still be on red. Then hold it down till you hear only on beep. All of your stuff on your hdd does get deleted but the only other way is to send it off.

How i can fix red screen on ps3 ?

Hi there,

Well first of all you can try the below steps -

1. turn off your ps3 with switch at back
2.hold power button
3.(do this while holding pwr button) switch back on the ps3
4. if done correctly the ps3 should make a loud fan noise causing the fans to enhance for awhile, that should clean out anything that could overheat the ps3

Sometimes the red light will be flashing because there is a problem with the connection of the hard drive to the rest of the PS3 or the hard drive itself is broken.
You can usually fix this problem by re-setting the drive. To do this, go to the side of your console and take out the hard drive. Then replace it in exactly the same position. If the red light is still flashing when you turn your PS3 on, you might have to get a new hard drive, or even a new PS3. Please post comments for more help or information..........

Good Luck!!

Thanks

My ps3 comes on but displays hard drive is corrupted system! whats the problem plz any answers?

This means that the Data on the hard drive has somehow been scrambled up, and the System Controller cannot "Understand" what is what. This means that the only way to fix this is to "Replace" the damaged data, usually by reinstalling that particular software.and, or replacing the drive itself with a new one, depending on whether the fault is, the drive itself, or the data on it. You generally must try to reinstall first, to see. If it doesn't "Take" you need a new drive and new Data on it.

My ps3 froze whilst online and i had to switch off manually. it will now not read any discs

Your ps3 data in now corrupted. You need to restore file system on your ps3. Follow this guide carefully.

HOW TO GO TO THE RECOVERY MENU OF PS3 SYSTEM

1. Make sure the ps3 is plugged in (stand by mode).
2. Put out your usb cable for the controller and the controller itself (do not connect yet).
3. Hold down power firmly, ps3 will turn on and then turn off, release power button when t turns off.
4. Hold down power again, you will hear a beep and then a double beep, when you hear that double beep release the power button.
5. Now you should be seeing something in your monitor that say "Connect usb controller", do just that.
6. After connecting the controller press PS button.
7. You are now in the recovery menu.
8. To fix the problem of corrupt data you can choose #3.
9. If you want to format your hard drive choose #5. Be aware that this option will delete everything that is in your hard drive.
10. Remember that doing #3 and #5 is not 100% to fix the problem of corrupt data, I say about 70%.

Good Luck!

When system is turn on its beeps red and turns off

Hello,

The blinking red light usually indicates hardware failure. If your Ps3 is still under warranty you should contact sony have them send you a box with free postage and send them your console. They will locate and fix the problem for you.

If your console is not under warranty anymore there are a few things you can try.

First remove the hard drive and try booting up your console. If it says no drive found shut the console down and put the hard drive back into place. If it works after that then the issue was just a drive error which is now corrected. If the light is blinking again then the drive itself is bad.

Second turn the ps3 off for 60 seconds by using the switch on the back. Now hold down the eject button and turn the power switch back on while your still holding the eject button. This can help with overheating issues.

If these simple fixes dont resolve the problem then you will need to contact sony and ask about repair cost's. As fixing it yourself would require experience in working on gaming consoles.

Playstation 3 switches on ok but wont load games or dvd's.

This fault was fixed by contacting Sony Helpline directly & explaining the fault (laser/hard drive damaged). They agreed to fix this fault free of charge & honoured my warranty as I bought this system in January 2007 by faxing them proof of purchase. They arranged to collect my PS3 via courier & advised that it will be returned within approx 3 weeks along with an extended 3 month warranty. I have to say that Sony Helpline were very helpful & their customer assistance was excellent & if your PS3 does breakdown I would recomend that you contact the Helpline first to enquire if they can assist with the problem before seeking to have this fixed at a potential cost of £100.00 upwards by independant PS3 fixers.
