And do you hear any beep sounds?

  • Mohamed Omran Jan 02, 2011

Have you tried to remove the memory modules & power up the system? When you do this, do you hear any beeps?

  • Mohamed Omran Jan 02, 2011

Ok. Now this sounds like a motherboard issue. I would recommend that we first try to reset BIOS settings & see if this will resolve the issue. In order to do this, please perform the following steps:

In case an item was changed in the BIOS,
such as the primary display device setting, use the following steps to
reset the BIOS back to its default configuration:

    1. Turn
on the computer and repeatedly press one of the following keyboard
keys. Press the key about once every second for 5 seconds after turning
      the computer on.

      • For HP and Compaq computers that came with Windows 7 and Vista, press F10
        .

      • For HP and Compaq computers that came with Windows XP, press F1
        .

      • For Compaq Presario desktop computers built prior to 2002, press F10
        .

    2. Wait another 5 seconds.

    3. Press the F5
key. This restores the default settings of the BIOS.

    4. Press the Enter
      key. This accepts the changes.

    5. Press the F10
      key. This saves the changes.

    6. Press the Enter
key. This saves the changes and exits from the BIOS.

    7. The monitor should display the first screens received from the computer (the logo screens). If not,
find and download the latest BIOS update

if one is available for your computer.

    8. If a BIOS update was not available or the monitor is still blank, continue to the next step.

My Dell Inspiron does not boot up only the solid amber light on the Motherboard on I try everything and still nothing works please help

Not so sure about this but I hope this will help.
-try to disconnect all the cables from the back (monitor, keyboard, mouse, usb's, power cable, etc.)
-then disconnect all the card (video card, sound card, NIC) if all are integrated then you dont have to.
-connect just the power cable
-try to turn on the computer and check if it beeps
-if it does not beeps need to replace the motherboard but before you do this check if the fan will spin even for a single second if does not spin then you also need to replace the power supply as well
-if it beeps then turn it off again.
-connect the video card and connect the cable of the monitor, keyboard and mouse
-turn on the computer then check if theres any display
-if theres no display check for any beep indication. and right it down on a piece of paper on how many times it beeps and if its long beep or short beep.
kindly provide an email if this things does not work so that I can give you a resolution.

Laptop will not display screen although is turned on.....

I assume you are saying the screen is totally black, not blue. If it is totally black there can be a large number of causes. It is hard to give one simple answer. It could relate to the brighteness of the screen, the display, the logic board, the graphics card or even a problem relating to updating Apple firmware, You could try some simple things first.1) If the lighting on your computer is accidentally turned all the way down, your screen will be black! To turn the brighteness up, push F2 on the top of your keyboard and click until the lighting improves and you see the screen. If your display stays black it could be an indication that you just need a new Display. They do wear out. 2) Another thing to try is to start the computer in Safe mode. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1564?viewlocale=en_US As you push the power button hold the shift key down. This can sometimes help resolve issues relating to startups. Also, if your screen stops being black it is an indication there is nothing wrong with your display. 3) You could try resetting the PRAM http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379, This can also help with a startup issue. 4) Some specific models of Macbook Pro computors have issues caused by the NVIDIA graphics card, which Apple knows about and apparently will repair, possibly free of charge. My suggestion if none of this helps is to take it to a Genius bar at an Apple store for them to troubleshoot. That, in itself, costs nothing. Other suggestion search with google for further answers from other Mac owners!

My desktop computer display black ,but CPU light is on -one yellow and one red , monitor light is on , keyboard light flashes on start and then stopped. Sometimes computer start after switch on , window...

you posted several problems and some are resulted in your trying to diagnose the problem. IF the monitor is black yet you can see the cpu lights meaning it is reading but does not power up all the hardware. In my years of experience in solving hundreds of computer. This is primarily cause by memory or video card. Just re-install or re-insert the memory or video card. This will likely solve the problem. IF just in case the problem still exist replace the memory (RAM) or the video card to check which of which has the defect.
In regards to your computer performing disk scan, this is part of windows utility to fix the hard drive. This is usually cause by pressing the reset button. This appears because when your computer does not power up you reset it. This is normal and nothing to worry about.
