Question about Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse VSBX300008
I' ve got a ms wireless notebook mouse 3000 and it just stopped working the receiver is on but the mouse just isn't responding I've tried reconnecting them and it didn't work. The laser is now off on the mouse it looks dead but its been fine for so long. could it be the battery if so how do I change it? and what battery does it use? HELP ME PLEASE!!!!
A friend of mine brought me this problem with exactly the same problem. here is what I found. The small notch in usb device socket under the mouse was malfunctioning. If you press this notch you will find the mouse red light blink. If you further try pressing this notch at some point the mouse red light comes on constantly. Thats it, hold it there and try to connect first by pressing the usb device connect switch and then the mouse connect switch. The moment the connection is made the usb device stops blinking and the red light on the mouse starts blinking. Wow, it works now. Some one might just open the mouse and fix this microswtich for a permanent solution.

Had the same problem. The green indicator light on usb connector was on, as was the red laser on the mouse. Changed the battery, it didn't help.. so I put the old one back in.
Played around with it and made it work! All I did was this:

I fixed by putting the receiver back into the slot underneath the mouse and replacing the battery with a fresh new one by popping the top cover of the mouse (push the recessed chrome/silver button on rear of mouse). I then took the receiver back out and inserted it back into the usb slot of my laptop and voila. Red laser pointer is back on and mouse is working fine and dandy.

You're right. The problem is the battery. To replace it press in the silver button on the back-side of the mouse where your palm lays while using the mouse. That will pop the top off the top of the mouse and you can replace the AA battery that powers it.

I read some of the problems as my 3000 just quit responding. Tried resetting the usb, resetting the mouse, shut the mouse off and back on, took the battery out and back in... nonothing. I just took the battery out and put in a new one, and also took my pressurized spray and sprayed the eye on the mouse and now it works fine.

Just had this problem, actually on my parents' laptop, last night... Their 3000 wouldn't work, even though the USB light was steady and the mouse LED light was blinking. I also had my laptop there with my Logitech VX Nano wireless mouse. I swapped them (i.e., put the 3000 in my laptop and the VX in theirs) and both worked fine - their 3000 worked on my laptop no problem!
Switched them back and it still didn't work on theirs. We even rebooted their laptop a couple of times and it still didn't work.
I got nothing! But, they're going to Best Buy tomorrow (where they just bought both the laptop and mouse on Sunday with the extended warranty), so hopefully BB will find the solution and they'll let me know what it was.

I have a different kind of problem. It keep saying that the USB device not recognize on the Mouse 3000. How do i fix it. I would apprecated if someone could help me

I had the same problem myself. I used the wireless notebook mouse 3000 on an IBM Lenovo laptop. The USB receiver was on, the mouse it self was on (the red laser was on) but the mouse did not respons to any movement.
I changed the battery and that did the trick! So try that first!
