Hello,

Welcome to FixYa.

The first place I would check is the main support which holds the tub in place. Remove the front panel, there should be two screws.

Then examine and inspect closely the frame assembly below the tub which supports the entire assembly, right where it sits on the base and is supported by a "snubber", check for cracks or separated welds.,

i.e.

on spin cycle the tub - macmarkus_204.jpg
( part # 131373610 available at "repairclinic.com" or searspartsdirect.com" to name a couple for about $200USD )

This is an upside down view of the support, but you should check for breaks in the locations I pointed with the arrows.

This is a very common occurrence with these models unfortunately. If all appears O.K., then continue checking for springs unfastened, oil on the base, or the snubber itself completely worn.

There's a possibility of a worn bearing etc. but you should see signs of leaking under the tub if that is the case.

Let me know what you find and I'll see if I can help you move forward from there. Good luck.

Regards,

Macmarkus :)

    Hello again,

The front panel is held in place by two screws along the bottom, (if indeed the model number is correct...kenmore 98702) as shown in this illustration.

The screws will be either a square( robertson) or a star( philips ) and once removed if you pull the panel down towards the floor an inch or so it will pull off.

Let me know how you make out.

    Regards,

    Macmarkus :)

    Hello,

To your post " i have a different model than referenced " That actually changes everything we discussed and makes it irrelevant to this point, this is made by whirlpool, the one you posted is made by frigidaire.

Let's start over then. The front doesn't come off nor does it need to with this model.

How old is your washer ?

When you open the lid does the basket look centered, does it move around freely if you grab the agitator and move it back and forth...front to back, side to side ?

    I'll watch for your reply.

    Regards,

    Macmarkus :)

    Hi,

I did receive your reply, however I'm currently out and therefore only have my iphone as a means to send & receive posts. That being said the model of washer you have is very involved to gain access to the basket & support/suspension assembly. I'm not sure on your mechanical skills, but I would recommend calling a pro if you need to service it internally. ( which is likely )
The one other item I'd mention you can check relatively easy is the drive block under the agitator. If you remove the agitator you'll see where the basket is fastened to the drive...check it for signs of wear or breakage.

Let me know what you find.

    Regards,

    Macmarkus :)

No problem, I will try and help if you need any just let me know. The agitator is held in by a single bolt under the center cap.

    Regards,

    Macmarkus :)

Make sure the legs on all four corners are down tight and even level the machine with this 4 pads. If the machine is level it will vibrate less, and then not all machines are completely quiet when working, especially on spin cycle..

Shakes violently during spin cycle from back to

I had this problem with my front loader as well. It is probably the mounts or "level shocks" on the bottom of the unit under the tub. I have a Kenmore by Frigidaire and had to replace the "level shocks". I only paid about $43.00 and was not that hard to put on. Look under your machine and see if the shocks are connected to the tub. Check under the top panel also to see if that particular model has mounts up there too.

Machine legs should be adjusted so that machine is level and standing on all four legs. The load in the machine should be evenly distributed. Utube has an excellent video on washing machine repair.

Kenmore he2 washer shakes violently

Check the Vibration damper rods to be sure that...
1. They are there and mount is solid.
2. If they are broken in 1/2.
3. The plastic knuckle mounts are not missing/broken.
4. There is oil in the shock absorber/spring section of the rods.

Also - there are suspension springs on the bottom of the tub that could be broken and/or missing.

Replace/repair as necessary.

Front load washer shakes violently during spin cycle

On something like this you will need to remove the washer wrap to inspect the suspension springs & base assembly. Please see the link provided for accessing the inside of the washer. Be sure the shipping pins have been removed. The tub should float freely.

Shook Violently first time on spin cycle

Make sure the washer is leveled properly and all four feet are resting on the floor. If it is level, try running one cysle without any clothes in it to see it is spins without that violent shaking.. you may have also had an out of balance load.. Hope that helps!

Kenmore washing machine shakes violently

There is the tub that spins on the bearing the " the active tub"(the one the clothes go in obviously) and around that tub is the "stationary tub", between the two are what they call "snubs" these are either rubber wheels, bushings or on cheaper models just a rubber boot that works as a shock absorber if you will, and keeps the movement of the the "active tub" with in its axis. If a wheel is broken, or a bushing/boot is torn or broken then there lies your problem.

I hope this helps.

syrny,

Not sure what you did, exactly. First, does the machine shake when spun empty...and then with water only? If so, you have probably failed to tighten something or misaligned something. Go over your work.

No shakes? Rearrange your load. You may have a pair of heavy wet jeans which is throwing the whole thing out of kilter. It only takes about a half pound of sodden clothing to do this.
