How to find the correct WEP key for psp 3000 - Sony PSP-3000 Black Console

You should be able to change the wireless encryption to WEP. The issue may be the speed too. 802.11b is the PSP spec and the newer modems might not offer that anymore.

Try power-cycling the router (unplug and plug back in). Make sure wifi is enabled on psp (green light @ bottom left, toggle switch is on bottom left of psp). Also, when typing in encryption key, make sure the encryption protocol settings on the psp are the same as what your psp is broadcasting. So if your router is broadcasting WPA/WPA2 encryption, make sure psp is set to that.

The WEP key is in your routers settings page under security. Once you find it, put it into your PSP network settings, and you're done

Have you put in your security numbers WEP key etc?Alos I know it might sound stupid.Have you turned your WLAN switch on?Give a bit more information on what it says when you try e.g. the WEP key is not correct or error your WLAN switch is not on.

its a security key or password which blocks other users from using ur internet...it consists of 10 number and letters and is usually under your Wi-Fi (wireless) router...enter that code into ur PSP and it will grant u access to the internet. you pretty much make it up on your own. theres not special key for it.

a wep key is the security code for ur wireless network, If you have never altered it then it would be the default code... normally this is found on the reverse or underside of the wireless router. There is no wep key actually on the psp.
If no wep key or wireless security key is found on the router, check with your internet service provider.

The WEP key is generated BY the Router, you need to go into the Router and discover the WEP key, or simply generate a new one and use that... a WEP key can just be considered a numerical "Password" Check your manual about WEP/WAP Keys.

It was a WPA key, not a WEP key. As there were no choices for WPA encryption in the encryption part of the connection process, I think I need to update my PSP using a USB cable.

check the wireless settings on the router.
make sure that the security password is correct.
also check if the wireless MAC filter is disabled on the router. If it is enabled then disable it.
If the security is WPA2 then change it to the WPA.
If it is WEP then leave it as it is .
you will also need to open the ports on the router for PS3

You need to choose the correct security setting before you enter the WEP key where it asks you if its WEP. ASCII or unencrypted choose the correct one!
