There's nothing you can do about this, it's not a wear issue it's just poor design or poor manufacturing tolerances and is always far more likely to occur on superzooms like yours.

Contact the Canon Service Centre in your country; they may be able to offer a repair under warranty, but it's far more likely that they'll just tell you that the lens is working within normal design parameters. If that happens your best option will be to sell the lens and consider buying another, but try it first to make sure that feels tighter. The loss you make on resale and repurchase will be less than you'd pay for any repair attempt which may not actually fix the problem anyway.

Sorry this is not the answer you hoped for but perhaps it's helped you to decide what to do next.

SOURCE: Front Extending Lens Barrel Loose

To save the lens from total destruction have the repair done by those that work on this stuff professionally. If you have to ask how to do this then that tells me first you do not have the proper tools to dismantle a lens of this type or have the alignment scope to re-assemble the lens elements properly. From what you are saying here I would think that the packing needs to be replaced or at least cleaned and tightened and the lens is worth the repair. Sorry this is not a DIY job and have it survive.

My canon ds6041 displays err 99 when i try to capture light aur object in sun light. What should i do i'm using 70-21-mm lense

Usually this is cased by shutter failure or failure of the aperture unit in the lens. Try another lens and see if you get the same error message - that will tell you if the problem is in the camera body or lens

Does my Sigma 28-105 mm Aspherical for film camera work on my Canon 5D Mark III?

If the Sigma lens mount is a Canon FD fitting then you can get an adapter FD to EF that will allow you to use the old lens in manual mode. If your camera isn't designed to take EF-s lenses then they will not fit on the camera. My EF-s lenses will not fit on my 6D.

I just purchased a Canon EOS Rebel K2 35 MM film camera body. What lenses are compatible with this camera?

The Rebel K2 has the Canon EF mount. It is compatible with any EF lenses except the EF-S series. It will also work with third-party lenses that are compatible with the Canon EF series.

You can see the entire current line of Canon lenses (including the EF-S series) at

Can i strip and clean the inside of my Cannon EF 50 mm 1:1.8 II

I don't think so. the lens is held by 3 or 4 internal plastic hook clipping type . send it to canon cost about 30 bucks. one clip breaks, you can say goodbye to your lens.

If I buy a Canon EOS 500D body wil my 500n AF lens fit it and operate OK?

All canon EF and EF-S lenses work with 500D /T1i model.(yes all)
If your lens is removed from old 500N body and if it has EF marked it will work for every Digital camera model of canon.
Note: its focal length will be multiplied by 1.6 X factor.
(mean 18 mm lens will become 29mm approx.)
If you find this of help rate me.

The zoom creep is an easy fix for Canon. I really do not recommend trying to tighten it yourself, since that would void your warranty.
It is usually free to tighten the zoom ring.
