That is a bit tricky, because if the hinge is allowed to get loose, microwave energy leakage can occur, which can lead to arcing and possible fire.

I would say to pull out the remaining screw and match it up at a hardware store, but that may make the hinge too loose to stay in place.

So only do that if you can totally immobilize the door. Duct tape comes to mind.... ;)

One other option is to try a few different sizes in the open hole without removing the remaining screw.

Try 6-32, 8-32, and 10-24 by about 1/4" to 1/2" long. You may also want to try similar metric sizes. When you find one that fits, you can apply some Loctite, insert it fully. Then remove, Loctite and reinsert the remaining screw. If you want, you can use nail polish instead of Loctite.

The three service manuals that cover these models are here, but they don't have part numbers for the screws:

I had the same issue (I don't believe it's _very_ dangerous, because the door is still tight to the frame, not allowing any microwave energy to leak; it's just that the door rather disconcertingly drops when you open it to a right angle), and I believe the manuals don't have part numbers for the screws because there are no screws! There's a hole that looks like a screwhole, but it's not threaded. I think it was probably rivetted or something.

Anyway, here's what I did: Open the door and pry off the inner plastic frame (page 40 of the first manual (the others won't load in the disassembly section)). Remove the louvred cover (part 18 on page 46) from above the door (three screws, page 34). Lift the door off the hinges and set it aside. Remove the three screws (part 97, page 46) holding the base cover on and lower the base cover. Now you can get at both sides of the bottom hinge and confirm that the upper hinge (actually the other end of the same piece of metal) is fine. Push a machine screw (I think the one I used was about a 6--32 half-inch one) through the hole from the front and spin a matching nut on the back. Thread lock and tighten the screw, then reassemble.

How to repair a broken lower door hinge?

You may need to remove the microwave off the wall but lets try this first. Unplug the micro and then remove the screws around the bottom cover plate. The cover should drop down--watch the wiring to the light system mounted to the cover. Now look at the bottom hinge area. Can yo see and access the screws to the hinge??? Should be 2 or 3 screws. If you can get to them then you can change the hinge there. Tape the door in place so it doesn't drop while doing the repair. If you can't see the screws, you may need to pull the micro off the wall and remove the outer case to do the repair. In some rare cases the hinges are welded to the case and not replaceable.

The micro wave door is warped so that the top right latch will not fully engage. How do I fix it?

If the door is warped, buy a new microwave but that is very unlikely.
Release the lower hinge screws and square the door up to the latches then tighten the fixing screws.
Hope that helps.

The door closes but not firmly their is still movement when fully closed

The door may be easily adjusted by slackening off the screws that clamp the door catch/actuators in place whilst holding the door closed and then tightening the screws. The rear of the door may be adjusted by slackening the lower door hinge screws and adjusting as required.
I hope that helps.

Faceplate of door by lower L/H hinge cracked. How do I remove the door to replace the Faceplate?

Front doors are attached inside the microwave at the top and bottom of the oven cavity. Top case has to come off using, likely, security torx screw drivers.
Remove the top hinge.
Remove the bottom hinge.
Door falls off.
Replace the front panel of the door.
Reinsert the lower hinge with the door, close and latch the door.
Holding the door firmly to the microwave, tighten the door hinge. Replace the top hinge.
(On some units, both hinges need to be installed at the same time. Use masking tape to hold the lower hinge - makes it easier.)

How do i remove sharp microwave from wall model

The only problem that ricksterboy doesn't list, is there are also two screws located underneath as well. You have to take off the filter screens to find them. They secure into steel supports inside the microwave.
No getting the micro off the wall w/o removing them, or using a sledge hammer...which after all the time we used trying to get the thing off the wall, seemed like a good theraputic option.
Lucky we took off the vent cover and discovered the additional anchors.

Good luck!

Frigidaire microwave door fallen off

I had the same problem. I removed the door and used a rivet tool. I checked to make sure the door cleared the rivet head, which was nearly flat, so there would not be any microwave leakage.

Microwave handle replacement

How to replace handle on GE Advantium SCA1001DSS.

Remove two screws on top at front in order to remove plastic front vent grill. Then the door lifts off pin hinges. Lay door flat on surface. Plastic trim snaps off with gentle prying (start at bottom middle and bottom hinge side). Then remove six screws holding notched metal section with door latch. This piece will also snap out (several visible clips holding it around edges). Then remove door handle screws, Replace handle and reverse process to put back together.

Front panel of the door just came off in my hand -

The inside hinge assembly may have to be changed. The hinge assembly may be defective. Some of the parts may have fallen inside, and must be found or replaced as necessary.

You cannot simply put a door back on a microwave oven even if you changed the hinge assembly.

If you have any issues with the door or case assemblies, the proper radiation testing has to be performed to make sure that there is no microwave radiation leakage when the unit is being operated. This is very serious!

GE JVM1650BB005

You can search under Repair Parts and enter your full model number JVM1650BB005 and get an exploded view diagram here: http://www.geappliances.com/shop/prts/ That diagram can be a great help. Also, I've attached below a door panel diagram from a Sharp model. Your GE disassembly may work the same way. If you haven't already taken the door off the microwave, I would recommend you don't unless you leave the hinge assembly attached to the door and remove the door from the hinges. It's critical to be sure you get (or keep) the door and hinged aligned exactly as they were to prevent leakage.
