Question about Microsoft LifeCam VX-1000 Webcam
Hello, I installed Microsoft Lifecam VX1000 and it used to work fine. There was also a virtual drive in the windows explorer which shows the images within the explorer window. I unplugged the cam before removing one of my hard disk drives and plugged the cam back, but I lost the virtual drive "Lifecam" and then on the camera was not working. I managed to reinstall the camera software and now it works fine. The virtual drive is named Life cam #2. But now the problem is that there is a new drive in my explorer. When I click on it, it says the drive is not formatted and if I want to format it now. But I cannot format it, it pops up a message Windows cannot format this drive. I am not able to see this drive in the disk partition software. So I believe it is the old virtual drive created by the Lifecam software. Is there any way to remove this? Sorry for making this description so long. Thanks in advance for your support
Partitioning software works with REAL Physical hard drives, not with virtual drives. Virtual drives are nonsense and should never be used to store data or images that one considers important. In this case, chances are your webcam selected some portion of your physical memory and called it a virtual hard drive, thus lessening both your computer's physical memory that could be used for other tasks and also making it impossible for you to retrieve your images or data from the virtual drive once the webcam was removed from its USB connection. Before removing the webcam from USB, you should have been advised to back-up your images to the REAL physical hard drive in whatever partitioning scheme you use on your hard drive, i.e. partition C:, D:, E:, etc.
Never but NEVER allow software to make important decisions for you, and Never use a virtual drive for transitory information that is easily corrupted but still considered important by you.
Your explanation was NOT to long, in fact it was the length of explanation that you gave that allowed me to fully address your issue
