Hi,

I suspect that Philips/Magnovox did not expect anyone to still be using this VCR beyond 2010 - or, more accurately, did not expect that it would still be working. Many AV devices are only expected to last for 5-10 years before they either fail or become obsolete. Many die or are replaced/upgraded long before this time, but a certain number continue to function - and continue to be used - well beyond the manufacturers expectations.

I suspect this may be the case with your VCR. If you can let me know the model number, I can either verify this is the case - or hopefully tell you how it can be set to "11". It's very difficult to give accurate information without a model number or any idea of the age of the VCR.

Thanks,
BElectric

Magnavox NE206UD TV/VCR/DVD Combo Remote Control wat universal remote will work for it im trying to get my menu channel on for cable

There is no such thing as a 'universal remote' since the coding is totally non-standard and may differ from one model to the next even within one manufacturer's current lineup.

You may be able to find a listing of models for a given remote here:

Remotes

When thinking about buying a 'universal' remote, get the model number and check the maker's website for a listing of models the remote can control.

A "learning" remote that can accept commands from originals, as well as having a large number of code sets (thousands) that we have owned for ~ a year has been very satisfactory and at a bargain price:

Chunghop Remote

Shipping is free but from China so count on 10-14 days delivery.

Finally, if the remote is older than the set you want to control, it probably won't have the necessary codes to control all of the device's functions if any at all.

Magnavox VCR U095 39760450-can not put in 2009 YR to record

I called Magavox and Matt told me they had no information for my very very old vcr. He suggested that I trick the machine and use a date similar to the current calendar. For instance, today is Monday, January 5th. I went back to 2004 and found the same day and date. I programmed my vcr for 30 minutes to test it out and it worked. If you can't beat it, join it. Hope your vcr works too. Happy new year!
