By default "ADMIN" is the user name and "PASSWORD" is the password, but if you changed it and cant remember it--you can press the RESET button on the back (use a paper-clip) that will reset everything to the "Out-Of-The-Box" settings

I have forgotten my wi fi password

Hello. If you need WIFI password, access the router user by typing or in the address field of your browser and then press Enter.
Enter admin for the router user name and your password (or the default, password).

After logging in. In the main menu on the left, click on Wireless Settings, from there you can check the wireless security Passphrase or Key code.

Hope this helps.

I can't secure the router as I've forgotten my password. How can I reset everything?

Usually there will be a small button on the side of your router that you will need to use a pin to reset. Once you do this you will be able to reset the router to factory default settings. I also have provided a link below should you need further help with this.

I have forgotten my netgear passphrase to set up my new laptop

There is a small button on the back of the netgear router, just large enough for the point of a pen. Push this button in, and unplug the router. After 5 seconds, plug the router back in and keep holding the button in for an additional 20 seconds. This will reset the router to factory standards, and you will be able to reconfigure your wireless password.

DG834G serial number 1JX274BP03ADD MAC 00184DFFEC3E my daughters boyfriend has given me this to use. i would now like to access it's wi fi capabilities, but he has forgotten the passwords etc. Can you...

The user name is admin and the password is password (unless it has been changed.
If it has been changed then you will have to reset the router back to factory settings . Use a straightened paper-clip and press it into the single tiny round hole on the back of the router for about 10 seconds - it should make all the lights flash. Then you can start again and re-enter your broadband login info and password.
This router is relatively straightforward and very easy to set up.

How do i password protect my router from outsiders connecting

Hi, check out the support pages here:-

Select your model (v3,v4,v5 etc) then look at the setup pages. Set your security to WPA rather then WEP as this is easily crackable, and with WPA you can choose the password. You should also change the routers admin password to be extra safe.
Let me know if you need anymore help.

Cannot get password authorisation for netgear router

The default username and password for the Netgear DG834G router is:

username: admin
password: password

If that does not work (i.e., the default password has been changed), then the only way for you to log into the router is to restore the router back to its default factory settings. Then you will be able to use the default username and password above.

To restore the router's factory default settings, you must use the Default Reset button on the rear panel of the router.
1. Press and hold the Default Reset button until the Test LED turns on (about 10 seconds).
2. Release the Default Reset button and wait for the router to reboot.
